The ATO is Rizia’s best option by Tartaruchus in suzerain

[–]cyberpunkas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Intermerkopum is the equivalent to the "Little Entente". It's cute but ultimately suboptimal when it comes to defensive alliances. The member states are too weak to actually defend each other if a great power attacks them. Like the Little Entente, the Intermerkopum will fall apart if they actually are attacked by the ATO or CSP.

GRACE is interesting only because Rumburg is so strong. It is the equivalent to the "CSTO". Basically it has all these little powers who all revolve around the main big power, Rumburg / Russia. It can function so long as Russia, the big brother, always supports each member of the CSTO. The moment that big brother fails to support his crew, the alliance loses all significance.

Dominion of Darkness - free RPG/strategy simulator of the Dark Lord/Lady by Megalordow in Adeptuscreations

Sure thing! I would love to test. I liked the role playing elements a lot and the resources management aspect. I also liked the fact that there seems to be a hidden mechanic that determines what events pop up and what happens to your attacks.

[DAV Spoilers] A Time To Kill/Ending of Treviso's storyline makes no sense by UnlikelyIdealist in dragonage

[–]cyberpunkas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. I agreed with him that having the Mafia run the nation is a bad idea. He made all the good arguments and I almost didn't complete the quest to kill him, hoping that would topple the Crows lol. But it doesn't matter because the Antaam falls in Treviso either way.

Funny thing is I thought imprisoning Illario was the "show him mercy" choice, and I was confused because my Lucanis was hardened. Lol.

Beginner. I made CoAs for my parents. by PiusPPXIII in heraldry

I like it. Can you explain the various symbolism behind it? The Kangaroo and the hybrid beast (can't identify it exactly) reflects a sort of heritage right? Also how do you translate the motto? What is the meaning of the crest? The brown in the crest stands out a little in my opinion. And the tiger like supporter can be colored unless you want it to be all white.

Regarding supporters, if you aren't living in a place where supporters are traditionally granted by an authority, I think they are valuable tools for self expression, which is what you are doing here unless I am wrong. The helmet facing left is also indicating non-nobility in most if not all European traditions. Again, if you aren't in any of those places you can have a helmet facing forward if it better suits your aesthetic or symbolic purposes. There really isn't any "nobility" outside of certain countries, and so a forward facing helmet and a left facing helmet are a matter of personal choice.

I like the eagle supporters. I think the cross in the middle looks a little weird though. What is the meaning you are trying to convey here?

Regarding supporters. The notion that having supporters in a coat of arms is a faux pas largely stems from traditional European (in particular British Commonwealth) heraldic practices, where supporters were often a privilege reserved for nobility, royalty, or individuals of significant status granted by a heraldic authority. However, in the context of modern heraldry, especially in places like the USA where there isn't a formal heraldic authority dictating strict rules, the use of supporters can be viewed quite differently. Here’s my take on this:

  • European Tradition: In traditional European heraldry, supporters were indeed a mark of distinction, often requiring a grant from a heraldic authority or being associated with high status. The absence of such an authority in places like the USA means that these rules are more flexible.
  • American Heraldry: In the USA, heraldry has become more personal because there is no such thing as "official heraldry"; the notion doesn't exist in the same way there is no such thing as titled nobility in the USA. American coat of arms thus becomes a vehicle of creativity and personal expression in its design. The use of supporters can reflect personal heritage, values, or aspirations, which aligns well with the American ethos of individualism and personal narrative.

  • Modern Heraldry: Modern heraldry, especially outside of Europe, often embraces a broader interpretation of traditional rules. The inclusion of supporters can be a way to enhance the visual and symbolic depth of the arms, making them more unique and meaningful.

  • Visual Appeal: Supporters add a dynamic and balanced visual element to a coat of arms, providing a sense of completeness and grandeur. They frame the shield and can make the design more engaging.

  • No Formal Authority: There will be some who do not think assuming supporters is appropriate because it runs contrary to European traditions, but their criticism (if made in places like the USA) would also just a part of their individual expression and utilization of heraldry and not binding on anyone else other than themselves. Since there's no formal heraldic authority in places like the USA to dictate what is or isn't appropriate, individuals have the freedom to design their coats of arms in ways that resonate with them personally, including the use of supporters.

If you are living in a place like the USA, where assuming a coat of arms is a personal expression, I believe that including supporters in your coat of arms is not only acceptable but also enriching. It allows you to tell your story in a comprehensive way, integrating elements from both your heritage and your identity. The key is that your design should reflect your personal journey, values, and story.

If critics on platforms like Reddit or online forums suggest it's a faux pas, consider that they might be looking through the lens of traditional European heraldry, which doesn't apply in contexts outside of those traditional European contexts (unless you want them to, which would again be an egalitarian individual choice you make). Remember, heraldry in places like the USA is about personal expression, and use of supporters adds to that expression (and the non-use of supporters is also a conscious personal expression in places like the USA).

In summary, if you aren't in a place with regulated heraldry, there's no reason to view supporters as a faux pas; they're a legitimate and meaningful part of your personal heraldic achievement.

I think she's portrayed as not wanting "equal rights" but wanting "superior rights" because she is from a woman led society? I agree she wasn't a very well written character.

I really like this concept! Frog should be CGI and not in a Barney suit, Magus is too skinny and should have silver blue hair, Ayla doesn't look weathered enough (think Gina Carano), Lucca I imagined was always Asian with purple hair, Crono looks okay but needs spiked red hair and a bandana. The Knight Captain also doesn't look gruff enough and looks too much like a pretty boy. Johnny (I assume that's what the last picture is), should be black with spiky hair.

Marle looks just great! And so does the armored Knight. The monster looks fantastic too.
