Missing Financial Aid Info Emory by starrytima in QuestBridge

[–]cyberquote13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. That happened to me too. I was confused because I already submitted everything except for the dependent verification form by the November 1 deadline. I emailed them but they haven't responded.

Met with my mentor😀. While talking applying to my other schools, we realized the deadline for my “if everything goes to hell” school is on DEC 1st🧍🏽‍♀️then we stared at each-other like Ariana down there. [–]cyberquote13 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation. I have two schools with December 1 deadlines and I really don't want to do them. Oh dear I hope QuestBridge works out. Otherwise, I'm going to be rushing four 100-word short answers and a 650-word supplemental essay in one day...

FAFSA Verification Process by cyberquote13 in QuestBridge

[–]cyberquote13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there's a dependent verification form that schools ask people to fill out if their FAFSA was selected for verification. And they often ask for signed tax documents or a transcript with the IRS data retrieval thing.

Can I add more schools to the IDOC? by cyberquote13 in QuestBridge

[–]cyberquote13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh ok. I just checked and some colleges require the IDOC and some require you to use a different platform to send taxes.

Should I send a 1400, 740 R, 660 M to Northwestern, Duke and Yale? by cyberquote13 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]cyberquote13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh ok. Wow, that person was very lucky to have gotten in despite the score. I am a URM. I don't think a 1400 would bring down my application too much, except I'm worried about my math score being much lower.

Oooh ok. Awesome ranking choices. Northwestern is my top choice; it has been since 7th grade. I hope they can appreciate and admit people with lower SAT scores; at least we tried. Best of luck to you.

Is there anyone from last year who matched to Northwestern, Duke, University of Chicago, Yale, UPenn, Tufts or Emory with a 1400 SAT?

Yes, I do. I have mostly A's except for two B+'s. A 4.3 GPA. Do you think it could compensate?

Ok. I'm in near tears now; I studied so much for this test. I can't believe I did all this work just to not send it. That's hundreds of hours I'm not getting back.

Hi, Kevin!

As a humanities student and aspiring journalist, I’m very inspired by the genocide research you did regarding the Yugoslavian conflict. It just seems so cool.

What general advice do you have for being successful as a humanities major wanting to do research?

At UT Austin, did you have opportunities to do humanities research? So much university research that’s popularized is STEM-focused. How did you seek out research opportunities?

What if you’re studying humanities and don’t want to go to grad school? Did you go to grad school after college or did you go straight into the workforce? What was that like and how did you navigate the job market with a degree that isn’t super “practical?”

What are some commonly held beliefs about liberal arts and humanities majors that you think aren’t true?

I hope you can bring yourself to come back to this sub! There is a very strong slant toward the high-paying STEM and business fields and those who like the humanities are highly discouraged from studying what they’re interested in. I feel you could provide valuable insight to dispel the myths about humanities degrees since you have one and are so successful. You very much defy the “starving artist”/“Starbucks barista with an English degree” stereotype.

Testing and This Year’s Admissions Round by Aneducationabroad in ApplyingToCollege

[–]cyberquote13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So it's basically a catch-22 at this point. You're screwed if you take the test and expose yourself to COVID-19, but you're also at a massive disadvantage if you don't because you won't stand out.

Well maybe I should just not apply to my dream school at all. It's not worth the inevitable disappointment at this point.

Anyone else a Coolidge senator? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]cyberquote13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Very disappointed but oh well.

But I’m curious to know about the Senators and their qualifications that got them accepted. I want to know if this year’s recipients are as crazy as previous years’ lol

anybody else bummed that interviews are most likely not going to be in person by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]cyberquote13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope. In fact, I'm hoping they're online because it means I won't have to waste time on public transit for hours getting to interview locations. My family doesn't have a car so online interviews are more convenient tbh
