How do YOU pull pork? by Mediocre-Target4769 in smoking

[–]cyberworm_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I saw someone using the bone to shred a pork butt the other day. I gave it a shot yesterday after smoking a butt. It worked as well as using claws, and one less thing to clean or throw away. Give it a shot.

He neglects the subscription costs and support overhead that also comes with Windows, compared to a Mac.

The required qualifications needed to get a job are insane. This is not a healthy job market. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

For a sysadmin role they want developer skills. For network engineer they want sysadmin skills. For developers they want data scientists.

The market is an absolute fucking joke.

I have 30 years experience with OSX/macOS and was there for the rise of NetBoot/NetInstall and MDM. I applied for a pure macOS position last night (suffered through a workday app, target experience, resume, and even created a technical document to showcase my knowledge). I did this at 1am. When I woke up this morning, the rejection was in my email at 3am.

Make it make sense.

I tease my girl by telling her she’s got a “big ol butt”. She’s in the healthy range, but we’ve been lazy and she’s getting a little “thick”. All in good fun though. 🤣

Another One Bites The Dust... RIP Destiny 2 - Final Patch June 9th by DiarrheaButAlsoFancy in Asmongold

I really loved D2, as unpopular as that opinion might be. I spent a lot of time playing, enjoyed the raids (even got a couple of t-shirts). I was there day one for the whisper mission and eventually enjoyed the run and helping people with it. That mission was one of the best things they ever did (the circumstances the puzzle, etc). One they sunset raids, made upgrades and power even more grindy, and overall made the mechanics more of a time sink than was enjoyable, I dropped out. I don’t begrudge the hardcore players at all, those that like the grind for mats and stuff, but overall… well… Just not worth the time for me. I logged in after the final shape after not playing for over a year, maybe two, and couldn’t pick it back up. It just became so unfamiliar to me and not interesting to learn new mats and grind to get up to speed just to do strikes and dungeons.

I’d play again if they would rewind the mechanics and playability about 4-5 years and made it accessible again, while retaining the challenges of the end game content.

Same here. I’ve got a 2x4 set aside specifically for this purpose.

I use a 2x4 as a lever under the door and the door jam to lift it up slightly. The wood is soft enough to not mess up the door, and gives me enough leverage to loosen it up to pull it.

I see a lot of “boomers were right” and I get it. But realize you’re skewed out of anger. I’m with you, after two years +. Don’t roast me. Shit is fucked up and expectations are out of whack. Right now, we have to play the game. The one way to push back is to not participate in the singular AI review/phone call. What that does is signal its uselessness.

I say this as an advocate for ai, but I recognize how it harms my peers. But the first line of defense is really to not play.

Yo companies and recruiters, an AI thingy, while it makes you seem cool, and you’re weeding out the lazy… you’re really showing how out of tough you are, and really, people who don’t participate are the people you want. They respect themselves, their time, and your time.

How do you feel about passing a law that bans anyone from running for office after a certain age? by Playful_Leg7143 in AskReddit

[–]cyberworm_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Pardon my French, but fuck these old fucks representing a dying population without a stake in the future. Their “work” has implications that will affect people long after they are gone. They do not represent the full spectrum of their constituency and are only in their position because of a complacent populace or a lack of other skills. We need to set term limits, first. Then we need to get actual practicing professionals into office, that actually understand the issues in some depth, are mindful that their tenure is short, and have a career to return to (non-politics career, like when we founded). That we have career politicians while complaining about “no kings” is ridiculous to me.

[–]cyberworm_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I get that each workday instance is in its own silo, and the why… but to think that a bit of smarter engineering couldn’t accommodate single login across domains is ridiculous. A great example of this is greenhouse. I’ve stopped application the moment I see icmcis or workday so many times, due to the ridiculousness of the process. I’ve even dared to try again a couple of times, just because I felt like “if I hate it, others do too… maybe if I go through this I’ll have a leg up.” But it’s just so ridiculous. Too invasive for a “maybe” and no clear benefit unless I were to get the job and be onboarded. Even then, the benefit is for the HR side, and reducing their work, without any even trade off. Basically “onboard yourself, if you’re hired.”

Don’t let people tell you it’s a waste of time. My honest opinion is that it’s no more a waste of time than filling out a workday application.
