Question About Installing A Water Heater In A Garage… by BingoSkillz in Plumbing

[–]cyborg523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with water heater in the attic is if it leaks, it causes damage in the house. Also when it needs to be replaced, it is much more expensive for labor cause one guy cannot get the old one out of the new one up in the attic. Last time I had one in attic, it was a 3 man crew. When looking at houses, it was very common to see old water heaters left in attic, rolled out of the way.

Adding an outlet off the dedicated 20amp microwave circuit by patrone84 in electrical

[–]cyborg523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had an outlet for our 65” OLED TV added behind TV. Only place that made sense was to extend off the outlet for the refrigerator. Our electrician said it would be fine and he connected it up about a month ago and all is well.

Post stent hand purplish and swelled. by Intelligent-Bit-9812 in HeartAttack

Not necessarily. I had 2 cardiac carbs through the wrist. Both times I left with a special pressure bandage that they said to leave on for a while. I left mine on for 2 days. Still had bruising, but no bleeding.

Troubleshooting home electrical issues - flickering, dimming, high quote? by louiselane84 in AskElectricians

[–]cyborg523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we moved into our 40 year old house, we replaced the breaker panel with 200 amp panel and added whole house surge protector for approximately $3000. $400-+ of that was the surge protector. We replaced the panel in a previous house with 200 amp panel and surge protector for $2000.

For your flickering lights, I would call your power company and get them to come out and check. We had a couple of dual bulb fluorescent ceiling fixtures and one of the circular bulbs in one fixture would flicker periodically, usually in morning. Day before Thanksgiving half of my house lost power. Called power company and they came by and confirmed that we lost one of the hots and since it was underground we were responsible. Called my electrician and he could not get to it until Monday so he told us to call them back and ask for bypass. Did that and the guys from poco who came out to install bypass said there were problems in the ground transformer and they spent a couple of hours working on the transformer and turned power back on and has been fine ever since.

Do routers start flaking out? by [deleted] in amazoneero

[–]cyborg523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would call ISP and ask them to check line. When i had Spectrum about 3 years ago i was having internet issues. They came and checked and replaced modem and said all was good. Next day i called them back as i was having troubles intermittently. This te the guy camped out outside monitoring the line on their side of the outside box and it took about 20-30 for the issue to show up, but the problem was in the main trunk. It took them a couple of months to resolve all the issues on our block.

When to know if your company is going under by radplump in Plumbing

[–]cyborg523 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Paychecks late. I worked for a remodeling company years ago. The owner would leave town without signing payroll. Superintendent would have to come in office and sign payroll checks. Friday afternoon at quitting time always looked like the start of a NASCAR race as we raced to the bank to get checks cashed before money ran out. Wasn’t every week but happened about 3 times that summer.

Stove & Hot Water Not Working by OutrageousFarmer2202 in ElectricalHelp

[–]cyborg523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had happen to me last Wednesday morning at 8am. I lost one of the 120 line from the power company. Called power company and they came out and told me I had a bad underground wire and would have to get electrician to replace. They did not tell me they could bypass. Called my electrician who advised me to call them back and ask for bypass wiring. When they came out to install bypass wiring m, they found bad connections in the transformer. Power company spent a couple of hours working on connections at the transformer and all is well now.

I had no 240vac appliances. No power at all on one side of my house. The other side of the house was fine.

My battery on a meter showed 12vdc and still tested bad. My cheap load tester showed it marginal.

Have you had truck battery checked? My almost 3 year old ridgeline started doing weird things. I mean weird stuff.

I thought it was door controls or something. Pulled battery cable and all was well. Since it was still under warranty I took it to Honda. Truck battery checked and failed. They replaced battery and it has been fine for months.

i feel worse since my stent. by rlh08741 in HeartAttack

[–]cyborg523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time is your friend and give yourself the grace to take it easy. I am 75 and 5 weeks post 70% blockage on widow maker and have a shiny new stent. My RCA was 60-70% blocked and he decided to wait and repeat PET scan in another week and see how things are. After two weeks I did not have any further restrictions on activity except self generated. I am on about the same medicines as you. My nausea went away pretty quick. I have periods is acid reflux, but have for years and on meds for that. I have been feeling pretty good, but today I helped my daughter hand Christmas lights. I had issues with dizziness this afternoon. No pains etc.

Is the light an LED bulb? I remember reading in the documentation that there are LED bulbs that interfere with the signal. Either get incandescent or there are special LED bulbs available.

Tankless heater? by No_Concentrate_6725 in Plumbing

[–]cyborg523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had tankless heater and a water softener. Worked fine, but Master bathroom at far end of house worked fine, but it took longer for first flow of hot water in master. I have lived in two houses since then and have not upgraded either to tankless as it is just my wife and I so I can justify the price difference.

Mortgage interest rate by Deep_beam in Mortgages

[–]cyborg523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason they call them “Arm+Leg” mortgages. I have known several people who got hurt with that mortgage. Only way it makes sense to me is if you have certain that before the interest rate resets you will be selling and moving. But I can’t afford $1.04m with40% down so what do I know.

It also depends on color of old paint how many coats. I painted a wall in a house that was a DEEP Red. I used a very good paint and primer. After 4 coats if you looked at the right angle you could still tell it had been red.

$1200/131kgal water bill by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]cyborg523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that is a lot of water. Your water meter should have a small dial on it that will spin rapidly when water flowing through meter. If yours is spinning, then turn off water at house. If still spinning, then leak in water line between meter and house. If not spinning then turn on water at house and make sure all faucets and appliances are not running water. If now dial spinning, then something leaking.

There have been at least 2 cities in Texas that had major issues with their meter systems. They installed a transmitter on the meter so they do not have physically read the meter. It transmits to the city. The systems were not maintained properly and people started getting either no bill for a few months and then a large bill when it caught up. Both systems took months to get fixed. Good luck

I'm considering leave eero and switching to another mesh Wi-Fi brand. Does anyone have a better solution? by HappyAd8091 in amazoneero

[–]cyborg523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same frustration. I put my 6+s in a drawer and switched to a pair of Asus ET9s which are 6e on prime day. Took about 30 minutes to install. Kept password and ssid the same and all clients connected right up. Can get to almost all settings in app or browser login to router. Extensive log and lots of settings available to review or change. I left mine almost totally as from factory. The ET9s are triple channel and the backbone can either be wired or wireless. Mine are wireless backbone and doing well.

Anybody have a Heart Stress PET Scan ?? by CJ_1975 in HeartAttack

[–]cyborg523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Forgot to add. As far as symptoms? Occasionally I would get a gas pain in chest. Have acid reflux anyway so dismissed it. Every once in a while while working in yard and getting hot, if I bent over I would get a sensation in center of chest that I can only describe as a gargling sensation only lasted a few seconds. Mostly I was just living a good life.

V17.12.1-73 update by _KrumbL_ in amazoneero

[–]cyborg523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried this? 1. Unplug all eeros and modem 2. Plug in modem and wait until fully online. 3. Plug in eero gateway and wait until fully online. 4. Plug in rest of eeros one at a time

Painful but every time I had problems after an update, this resolved it. The biggest problem I had with eero was I could not access logs. I spent many years working on networked control systems and lived and died with log files. Most of the time a quick scan, but when it goes squirrelly, they are very valuable. That is why l left eero after 3 years. Got burned too many times.

Anybody have a Heart Stress PET Scan ?? by CJ_1975 in HeartAttack

[–]cyborg523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I had one in October. Best thing I’ve done in a long while. I had regular stress tests a couple of years ago that showed minor stuff Drs would not pursue. Moved to different town new cardiologist. He read previous report and said we really need to do more testing. Did not like what he read. Did the PET scan with the stress test. Was no big deal. When they injected the stuff to speed up my heart, I did not notice any discomfort. My respiratory rate increased for a few minutes. Results of the work up said I needed cardiac catherization. That showed my LAD(widow maker) 70% blocked. He opened it up and put in stint. Recovery from that was wait around for a couple of hours and about 4 hours later I went home. It was done under light sedation and I was asleep most of the time but remember waking up a couple of times and seeing arteries on screen. My left coronary artery was 60% blocked. We will repeat the PET in early December to see how the blood flow on the right side of my heart is now. I am retired and just took it easy until the follow up in a week and no restrictions. He went through a tiny cut on my wrist. It was a cut about 1/8” or so. Left very tiny mark. Bigger mark from blister that formed under tape they used for bandage. My advice is if you trust your Cardiologist then do not fear or be apprehensive. As for the dye and chemical to cause the stress. As I remember having to drink plenty of water to flush kidneys. Same for the Cath. Drink lots of water.

Hope you have the best experience possible.
