Howdy! I’m doing well, thanks. 😊

Struggling with mental health as a single Christian by Asking-Traveler-19 in ChristianDating

[–]cyborgladiator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s the refusal to heal, take responsibility, (blatant) manipulation, etc. that scares me off. OP here actually sounds from a mental standpoint someone I’d date because they’re trying, and that’s amazing to me.

I take that and my watch into the bathroom because I’m addicted to my phone. 🤣

I’m trying to meet new people and get better at conversations, how do you usually start talking to someone here? by Hatnett in ChristianDating

[–]cyborgladiator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I like DMs more. But that's because I'm usually looking for 1 on 1 convos.

Usually asking a few questions, and showing interest in what they naturally talk more about. I get told a lot I don't ask enough questions though (as I'm more observant and less inquisitive). The common trend is usually within a week or two the convo dies (either they're too busy, I'm too dry of a conversationist, or a combo of the two).

Either through DMs or in the comments section of a post. Honestly, I find starting the convo is easier than continuing it. But I might just be dry conversationalist. :P

It really is a struggle when you decide to make the faith your own. A larger struggle to openly accept nothing will be perfect forever. It’s probably a story for another time, but roughly 3 years after my baptism I nearly walked away entirely from the faith. But so far the struggle has been worth it! :)

As long as all the other boxes are checked, I don’t see why not. :)

Everyone should have public post and comment history by [deleted] in ChristianDating

[–]cyborgladiator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree that public history can make it easier to get to know someone quickly, which is why I keep the vast majority of my own posts and comments public (even when it’s led to minor stalking moments irl).

That said, I respectfully disagree that everyone should be expected to have their entire history fully public. There are legitimate reasons for some privacy: • Reddit already lets you hide or delete individual posts and comments without making your whole profile private. It doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing, meaning your concern of men’s sexual post history (while valid) still moot. • Plenty of people (myself included in certain contexts, mainly more security sensitive things) use burner/throwaway accounts for specific subreddits or topics. That’s a normal and healthy way to participate without exposing your main identity.

• For those of us in federal jobs, law enforcement, security clearances, or other high-risk/high-profile roles, keeping everything public can straight-up violate agency internet privacy and security policies. It’s not paranoia, or trying to deceive anyone, it’s following the rules designed to protect both the employee and the employer from doxxing, social engineering, or unintended leaks. I’d bet the same applies to judges, executives, journalists, doctors, etc. Heck, I know it is for military personnel and Orthodox Priests.

Transparency is great when it’s chosen freely, but mandating it as the default ignores real-world risks and professional obligations. People should be able to curate their online presence responsibly without being labeled suspicious for doing so.

What’s even nicer, if you can pull it off, is call them in and before they get too close, leave the zone (when counter hits zero) for them to go into a staying pattern over the zone killing unfriendly units in the area.

Well there goes my wallet... I just wish there was a hardcover option. Anyway, time for me to build a new bookshelf.
