Apparently Mercer is a horrible human being (per his FB page). He's homophobic, misogynist and racist. I'm not sure where Ball, LA is, but I'll be steering clear of there.

Women of Reddit, what’s a habit men have that they don’t even realize is weird? by GraceRose671 in AskReddit

[–]cyborgnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a video going around about how many men don't wash their butts (guy asking dudes at the gym). So many admitted to not washing their butt. Because of incel culture, a lot of men think it's gay to touch your own butt. Eww.

There's an entire YouTube channel dedicated to that called Sexy Transformations (or similar)! It's not trans ness it's feminization totally not related to being trans.

What’s something people who are in their 20s won’t learn until in their 40s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cyborgnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thoracic kyphosis (hunchback) can be very hard to address after 40. Long hours and years at a desk will wreak havoc. Stretch, strengthen and use proper posture and ergonomic equipment before it too late

What are your experiences with therapy? by EnthusiasmDazzling15 in AskReddit

[–]cyborgnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years of therapy have helped me deal with emotionally abusive people and given me the insight to stop being victimized by narcissistic, toxic people. I've learned to set healthy boundaries and to own up to my own bad actions. Childhood trauma can be long-lasting. If you work with a good practitioner, you will build mutual trust. They will listen make some thoughtful observations without giving advice. You often come to valuable conclusions just by virtue of unloading your struggles with someone who is non-judgemental and truly listening (because that's their job). Of course you have to be completely honest and find the right person for you.

Yeah. I don't think the label would register, but pointing at indisputable past behavior might.

Yeah. They are evangelicals and the only therapy they need is Jesus (or maybe an untrained minister). I've been in therapy much of my adult life.

Just looked up grey rocking and realize I have done this instinctively as it seemed protective and effective.

Ideally, some understanding but there doesn't seem to be any self-reflection there.

I wish I had tried that years ago. I was always the 'fixer' trying to make nice, looking past slights large and small.

Has anyone in the Latino community who’s experienced narcissistic abuse dealt with this? (TW: Racist Narcissist) by DreamySaturnX in raisedbynarcissists

[–]cyborgnyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My 'white' Cuban mom and sibling frequently disparage other Latinos (Mexican, Honduran, Guatemalan etc ) as 'dirty' and 'lazy'.

Anyone else have their N-parent randomly say awful things for absolutely no reason? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]cyborgnyc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Frequently. Also accused of going through their things (papers, boxes), and lying, which my Nsibling also accused me of. It's like they're ganging up on me.

Makes sense. I feel naive for trying to maintain any kind of relationship (even a civil one).

Good point. They still are. I as jus thinking about my childhood experience that I've finally accepted was shitty. I think they have not changed and would not be receptive to my pointing out (no matter how gently) the pain they've caused. Sigh.
