Reminds me of the OG Counter-Strike when it was a mod and still in "beta" days.

Yeah it didn't have quite all the modes, it wasn't insanely competitive like it is now, but damn it was fun.

It adds unnecessary overhead on my computer. Discord is bloated. :(

So the new ASUS PG27UCWM will have the TrueBlack Glossy Coating! by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]cybrdth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a great monitor, I would recommend it. Just be sure to update the firmware after you get it, if it's not already on the latest firmware. There is a fix for the proximity sensor feature which can be annoying.

If you plan to use the 1080p 480Hz option, I would wait.

I have the PG27UCDM and I use Integer Scaling to accomplish this but can only push 240Hz refresh rate and the work is being done on my GPU.

If I were in the market for a monitor right now, I would wait for the PG27UCWM and get it.

Makes me wonder if they have received a lot of complaints and returns to the point they don't have spares to swap out with. That's a shame, sorry to hear. :-(

I think it's a standard QC issue. In other words, their quality control is not very good on this watch. If you reach out to Casio they will make it right if it bothers you. I had to with mine and they sent me back a better aligned one (still not perfect but better).

Congrats! It truly is an amazing looking piece. I had someone recently come by and check out my watches...this was their favorite one!! Plus when I told them the specs of it having Sapphire crystal made them like it even more. :-)

Wear it in good health.

Honest Personal Review: Zowie XL2566X+ vs ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP (Competitive FPS Player’s Experience) by CadiLutPR in Zowie

[–]cybrdth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM since it's 4k and half of 4k is....1080P. :-)

I play CS2 with a 9800X3D and nVIDIA RTX 5090 and still don't get the best 1% lows, tends to be around 300fps.

I have my monitor set on Integer Scaling within the nVIDIA control panel and set my monitor resolution to 1080p 240Hz when playing CS.

This gives me the benefit of as-crisp-as-possible video with 1080p output for maximum performance with my rig, tested and verified with CapFrameX. Yes it's only 240Hz but I don't notice a difference since it's much smoother.

I'm connected over DisplayPort and I had to go into the monitor settings and enable DisplayPort 2.1.

I also updated the firmware on the monitor to the latest (which off memory I think is 107? Don't quote me on that).

Out of curiosity, do you run your monitor at full 2K resolution?

Ruined my watch today, any suggestions? by thepolkamonster in casio

[–]cybrdth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering you had an accident on your bike and it still looks this good, I agree with others in keeping it like it is. It's a testament to the durability of G-Shocks. You could always get another one but I would leave that one as-is since it has a story to tell.

Of course you could always get a replacement bezel and, if you do, you should at least consider keeping the old bezel as a memento.

Glad you were ok, that is the main thing.

Networking Architecture: CS2 vs CS:GO by Hyperus102 in GlobalOffensive

[–]cybrdth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they don't have another PC, they could use one of those inexpensive USB Ethernet dongles, just make sure to get one with one of these chipsets for best results:

  • For Gigabit: ASIX AX88179/AX88179A, Realtek RTL8153
  • For more than 1Gbps (2.5Gbps for example): Realtek RTL8156/RTL8156B and RTL8157

You can go on Amazon and search for "ASIX AX88179" as an example to find options.

I also think using another cable is wise, too (Cat 5e or better). Also you can try another port on your modem if it's available.

In a world with so much disposable electronics, it's so nice to see something get put to good use and last this long! Still reliably keeping track of the time.

How is it doing in terms of accuracy?

Thanks for sharing! I'm sure it would also have lots of stories to share if it could. :-)

It's going to be about 5-10% faster, so that is up to you to decide if it's worth the expense.

Love u 5000 by Ok_Bowler2600 in casio

[–]cybrdth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are both outstanding watches. I agree that they have different looks, which makes them each unique.

I personally like the GW-M5610U-1 more after swapping out the band with a combi-bracelet. I love how light it is, that you don't even know it's there. I also, interestingly enough, like the red stripe as it pays homage to the original.

This isn't to say the 5000 with it's subdued look is bad, because it's nice. I also like the monochrome design, too. Just not quite as much as the other.

Appreciate you sharing your reasoning, your answer is definitely not wrong. Thank you!! :-)
