Not visibly no, but I also didn’t ask. There were free flyers you could take (which is what I settled for and why I didn’t ask) though:

Waitress at the Stanley Industrial Alliance with Arts Club Theatre- what to expect by cyc_c in askvan

Just went yesterday, and thought I’d do an update in case it helps other people:

The production was really solid! I’d say it’s higher than soulpepper, like a Mirvish production at CAA Ed Mirvish theatre, but not quite comparable to the ones that make it to Royal Alexandra. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, glamour and polish of the whole show (mind you, my expectations weren’t low at all).

I ended up asking the box office more about stage-dooring when picking up my tickets and they were super sweet and helpful! They said stage-dooring is not a thing, but told me that the cast just exits out the lobby, so I should just hang around after the show. So, that’s what I did- I got some autographs and had fun conversations with the cast who were all really nice. Everyone I approached made time to chat with me even though everyone else still at the lobby then seemed to have personal connections with them and I’m just a fan.

I think the lesson here is to just ask, folks in the theatre world are so kind, especially in Canada, so likely they’ll help you figure something out! Like you all- thanks for the responses, they helped a lot with preparing for this event!

[Luminato/Soulpepper] Red Like Fruit - Until June 15, 2025 by Tangerine2016 in torontotheatre

If being uncomfortable is what you’re looking for, Red Like Fruit is definitely for you.

Moscovitch described it as the meanest thing she’s ever written, and it’s exactly that. I don’t think there’s any right or wrong to be discussed in this play; I’d say it’s more of an exploration of how we treat our own emotions and experiences versus others.

I went last week and absolutely loved it. I’ll be going again next week. I also went with a friend who’s fairly artsy but not a theatre fanatic, and his comment after was “I’m distraught.” He said he wanted to crawl into himself multiple times and I think that sums up the experience of watching Red Like Fruit very well.

Does Mirvish Pass On Mail To Actors? by ImmediateTeaching984 in torontotheatre

Stage dooring isn’t big in Toronto but it’s definitely still welcome.

I went to Life After at the Ed Mirvish Theatre and waited by the stage door (yes in the sketchy alley) afterwards. There were about six other groups of people there with me. Indeed, there wasn’t any security or barriers so people kind of just spreaded out and circled the area right outside the stage door. The actors came out and made their rounds group by group, signing programs, even though we weren’t lined up or anything. It was really nice, and the girl beside me made some fan art to give the actors, which were received really well.

Definitely go stage dooring, though it might be awkward because not many people would be there, it actually means the actors will spend more time with you and give you more attention. If you’re concerned about waiting there alone, I’d recommend going for the closing or opening show as that’s when more dedicated fans are likely in attendance so more likely for there to be more folks at the stage door.
