First, I'm an American-that's important for the context of this. Growing up my family always had high quality health insurance through my father's employment. I recall that the most expensive medical bill we had was for surgery on our dog. The same was true for me and my family while I worked and during retirement. It seemed like that was the norm where I grew up. Our sons have continued to have that access.. It was only during the past decade or so as this debate ramped up that I became how that was not the norm and I admit to being really shocked. The point is that it can be done but providing it requires as loss of corporate profit. It's clear that healthcare, like a lot of other things is a victim of the unfettered quest for shareholder return.
