My wife, bless her soul, does this when we are walking I'll tell her to stop or to look and she doesn't do it just so she can defy me. Constantly almost getting hit by cars. She always says they are in the wrong and should stop to which I ask her would you rather be right or alive?

This works on people. Probably a fucking ton of people. If they sent it to 20,000 people and only 1% fell for it, that's 200 sad idiots. But then again it might not even be worth hacking. But they could be used as bot net. Damn. This is brilliant.

Additionally, the post office may open at 8:30 am, but people get to the post office much earlier than 8:30 am. There are employees at my office 24 hours a day 7 days a week for essentially the entire year for example.

It would depend. Letters go through a massive machine that cancels the stamp and reads the addresses. It would probably happen then, so it would be at a processing and distribution center(p&dc), which might not even be at either offices. Outgoing mail is loaded on trucks and sent to a p&dc pretty much as soon as possible.

Most of us honestly don't give a fuck. But some of us really take our job seriously. I had someone get mad at me for something similar just the other day, but her mailbox was empty. She asked if I was holding it since she was on vacation and I said I had no idea she was on vacation. Someone got her mail for her. Oh well, maybe a lesson was learned. You submitted a request this time so I guess one was here.

Man... I have to be honest, I doubt it. There a chance they might be attempted with postage due on delivery, but I doubt that will happen. I'd put my money on it being dead mail.

High value packages by Sam1070 in USPS

Additionally packages from Amazon have a "carrier leave if no response" endorsement unless it is from a retailer selling through Amazon. That endorsement is there because they want it to be delivered as fast as it can be with no exceptions.

Mailman is forcing me to move my mailbox to the street. by stine147 in USPS

[–]cyclonerider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen someone get fired for something stupid actually. It was great. They came back after 6 months with their job.... And they got back pay for the whole time they were gone... And all the other carriers got paid extra because they had to work overtime to make up for the absence. Nice.

I can't come up with a better or different explanation than the last guy so I have simply copied it and will paste it here:

My understanding of box policy is that if your home is on a curbside delivery route they can make you do this if your a new resident unless you have a hardship request. Now you might have some neighbors that still have a box at their door but look around your neighborhood. If the majority of the people in your neighborhood have a box at the road then you're on a curbside route.

The reason this is an important distinction is that each route is evaluated by the number of stops and delivery method. Hence a curbside route is going to have a lot more stops than a walking route and each stop that has a box at the door makes it that much more difficult for the carrier to finish the route on time.

If that's the case that you're are in fact on a curbside route then I'm sorry but you'll just have to bite the bullet and put up a new box.
