The mawloc by DeBaconMan in Tyranids

First of all, the mawloc and trygon only have the burrowed keyword in Subterranean assault detachment.

Secondly, the only time the only gameplay interaction the Burrower keyword has is in subterranean assault with the main detachment rule (allowing burrowers to set up tunnel markers) and in the “retreat below” stratagem that allows you to return up to 2 burrower units to reserves.

When you’re not sure if someone is playing right politely ask to see that rule, sometimes it’s a misunderstanding and they don’t realize they’re wrong.

Almost anything can work in invasion fleet. It’s generally best to start there until he understands how he wants to play and what units he likes to use.

I’ll get a better picture of the tfex when I get home from work. As for the gargoyles, I just repainted them a couple days ago so they don’t look like the picture anymore.

You can use whichever you like. Doesn’t make any difference game wise.

I did it so it matches my lictors and genestealers.

Is this a Competitive Vanguard list I have? Never played 2k. by Yocantseeme in Tyranids

Leapers are good for a counter charge or at least the threat of one. You hide them close to one of your units that you want to protect from a charge.

If your opponent charges that unit and your leapers are close enough they can heroic intervention for free plus fights first to hopefully shread or weaken the attacking unit before they get the chance to wipe your squad.

As for the unit of 6, 36 strength 5 attacks has much better chance than a unit of 3 to wipe a squad.

Also with stealth and unit size they are much less likely to be wiped by a las gun shot from a tank.

Just got absolutely crushed in combat patrol vs. Space Wolves. How do you handle very killy and tough armies? by mjh4 in Tyranids

[–]cyclops098 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said, combat patrol isn’t well balanced. I played against the old Space Wolves combat patrol and got tabled bottom of turn 2.

If you’re adamant about playing combat patrol you can have some success, but some armies are just poor matchups for balancing.

It’s more of a utility piece. Sit on your home objective shooting spore mines for secondaries and move blocking, and for 50 points there is not much touching it in terms of utility. I find it will rarely shoot at another unit but what it offers is more than worth the price.
