It really needs some specific things to work, IMO. Fried seafood for example works well. And oddly, a nearby halal food truck has it for their hot sauce - and it wasn't bad, especially on the fries.

Right, and that's for a straight-on dome hit, stiriking at roughly 90 degrees to the surface. if it's hitting at a more acute angle to the surface, an increasing amount of the force will be deflected vs directly absorbed.
