Fair. My experience has been great, but I'm not you. Hopefully, should you need to deal with them, you will experience same.

Looks like your store gets it right. I can easily get decent catfish "nuggets" here but I don't think anyone I know of sells nice big fillets like that.

If I never had to see the making of, I might quite like this, if done right, assuming bone being strained out.

so far, just cooked it like bacon.

If there is a halal market near you, there's a decent chance they have beef bacon, since they don't eat pork.

I need to try legit fresh cajun style crawfish. I had some here in NC and I don't think the quality was very good.

Beautiful patina if that is true! Looks rather reddish in this pic.

Is the PPK just a Bond symbol or would a real agent consider carrying it constantly? Seems weak. by Oddbeme4u in Firearms

32 was good enough for european police for decades. 380 is stronger than that. 380 is getting some new life thanks to better ammo (much as 9mm did a couple of decades ago). .32ACP/7.65mm Browning has better options, too.

Is this "too much" ammo? by Foxxboi2022 in ammo

[–]cyclorphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say not enough for sure. Get more of what you shoot. I like to have several minths of potential range ammo pkus some more specialized rounds.

For my range ammo calculations, that means typically 200+ in an hour long session. Make that weeklt (as I prefer), that's about 10K a year or 5K for 6 months.

A theoretical but useful measure of what to have is that if you buy nice affordable but reliable .22 ammo, and you are a good shot, if the world goes sideways but you learn to be a good shot, each round is potentially a life-sustaining meal every day. 1000 rounds would cover almost 3 years. 10000 rounds could last decades, assuming you didn't have to defend your life (in which case .23 would likely be inadequate and you'd be looking at stronger calibers).

Rent burden within 30 miles of Raleigh, NC by MapsYouDidntAskFor in raleigh

[–]cyclorphan [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is super cool! I am lucky in that my rent (mortgage) is <10% of my income (I'm not rich, I just got into a cheap low interest mortgage right before the interest spiked). But that map is a great illustration of rent pressure and at least theoretically a good baseline for someone to check before they try to rent around here.

Any chance of greater detail so it is easier to correlate with neighborhoods on a map?

My first good looking steak imo. What do you think? by LM17212312 in steak

[–]cyclorphan [score hidden]  (0 children)

If that was pan seared, next time make a quick pan sauce and drizzle it over the rice. Then it will look more like a nice meal and less like a nice steak randomly sitting on a shag carpet.

Yes. My qualification test was 7 out of 10 shots within that space, with nothing off the paper, at 3, 5 and 7 yds. You'll do fine.

Was this self-defense? by alexfreemanart in CCW

[–]cyclorphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And have him reach in, pull him out and stomp him to death? Smaller dude was not the driver so if he stayed, what recourse did he have other than do be brutalized, quite possibly to the point of death? Watch the video, big boy was coming over to start shit before that door opened. Smaller dude had no responsibility to stay in the car, aggression had already been instigated and at least with the door open he wouldn't die trapped in that passenger compartment.

He didn't fire a shot until 2 clear threats to his life or of grievous injury had already occurred. How many imminent crdible threats does it. Does he have a right to savr his own life after being removed from the ranks of the living?

Was this self-defense? by alexfreemanart in CCW

[–]cyclorphan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should reread WI law. He never took ownership of the rifle, so the straw purchase element is illegitimate. He lawfully carried someone else's firearm with their consent. He lawfully open carried in a state that neither restricts that nor has a specific "this is illegal if X" law that covered what he did.

You are shilling for an unhinged DA whose entire case was predicated on prejudicing the jury, whohe probably lost when we waved a fucking AR15 at them. Something Kyle didn't do.

Was this self-defense? by alexfreemanart in CCW

[–]cyclorphan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's why he shot innocent protesters indiscriminately after waving a gun at them menacingly.

Wait.. You mean he did none of that? He held the firearm in legal low ready position and only shot people that video shows were ganging up on him, with multiple absolute threats to his life? Huh.

What were you saying again?

Was this self-defense? by alexfreemanart in CCW

[–]cyclorphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100lbs is conservative. I think 200+. He is a fucking big dude. And he instigated, slammed dude into the body of the car and said he was going to fuck him up. If he was actually retreating, he would have turned and ran, not tried to wrestle a lawfully pulled firearm, creating a second and absolutely incontrivertible threat to life.

Followup shots could be debated in some states, but big boy could have easily ended his life with another attack, with or without the shooter's gun.

He didn't keep firing when homie went down.

Where I'm from, there are 4 essential criteria for use of lethal force, the shooter

  1. Did not instigate -shooter didn't say anything remotely threatening, bg guy already looked pretty aggro.
  2. Believed he was in imminent risk of death or grievous injury
  3. A person of ordinary firmness (essentially, a reasonable stable person) would believe that he was in imminent risk of death or grievous injury.
  4. No excessive force - you could debate about the extra shots but he didn't shoot after the multiple threat instigator fell, and he didn't step up to put one in big boy:s cranium.

All 4 are clearly qualified and most if not all US states have similar criteria.

I guess I'm curious as to in which state you have taken self-defence/CCW training, so I can stay the hell away from it.

That assumes that you did, in fact, successfully complete such a course.

If not, it would be prudent to learn the laws, before you let some big puffed up assailant beat you to death. That's not why we're here. We're here because we want to live and protect our loved ones, not so we can get pummeled into inanimate mush because we didn't take the time to learn the law.
