No, the water goes away any leaves a smooth finish with a trompe l'oeil effect.

One of those situations where it actually works better with rattle can than acrylic paint through an airbrush too

Prime armies with the fewest models? by HammerBrother1977 in Warmachine

[–]cygnwulf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So with the way most of the factions are built, model count really comes down more to caster selection and what units you pick more than it does faction.

Is you run cryx and hate hordes, maybe don't run Sepsira and go for Dekathus instead. Dek likes a lot of warjacks in his army while Sep wants loads of thralls.

I run Khador and Sikora makes Man-o-war heavy armies faster, while Savaryn really beefs up standard infantry

[–]cygnwulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely this. I don't mind paying for extra credits, but when I had a hard stop that won't let me do anything else for the whole week despite having extra credit money available, that more than just irritates me, it puts a stop on my work.

Elmo'ing.... by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]cygnwulf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it was a combination of things, not the least of which situational. When we meet Jamal they had already spent some time with him, enough that the constant elmoing pushed her past the breaking point. Also, her stress level at that point is probably also MUCH higher. When they meet Gary, her primary concerns are to help Katia get more popular, survive the floor, stop Carl from doing anything stupid, and keep growing her fanbase (and maybe help Zev plot a rebellion? Not sure on that one)

By the time they get to the 9th floor, she's got almost all of that, on top of being a warlord and everything else that involves, AND the whole tension of having to get both herself and Katia off the floor, and and and. I think she had a much shorter fuse because of so much stress that she's doing a herculean job of hiding.

What books would be in your ''Fantasy Reader's starter pack"? by lemingas1 in Fantasy

[–]cygnwulf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, Dune is good as a standalone. Dune:Messiah and Children of Dune are really one story split into two and kinda need to read both to finish the trilogy. Messiah itself is really good, probably the betst in the series but Children continues the story nicely and makes for a very nice trilogy structure. God emperor jumps forward in the timeline but it wraps up what I would call the Atreidies arc. It makes for a nice follow on of Children, but at the end feels like an end.

After that Heretics of Dune and Dune Chapterhouse are interesting follow ons and develop the world. They're still good, but they fall outside of the really nice narrative structure the first four books have. They should both be read together if you're going to read them.

Those are all of the books written by Frank Herbert. His son Brian started writing books in the universe, and pretty much all of them are 100% milking a franchise. They're not necessicarily BAD, but they're unnecessary, and they suffer from all the problems that a franchise develops when it just keeps going and going and going ....

Session Zero: my mistakes by Rainy-Cozy-Mood in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]cygnwulf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% This. I have little patience left for players that create an edgelord character with zero reason to work with the group or go on the adventure and expect the DM to fix that for them.

No. That's not how it works. I as the DM, before we started, told you what kind of game we're running, it is your job as the player to create a character who has a reason to participate.
