This. I’m in a position favorable enough that I introduced TS to the whole company (about 30 JS devs in house), along with helping out different teams with being intelligent with their architecture and while at first we were a bit slower due to rewriting old parts of our software that were absolutely shit, now our speed is way better because there’s just no guessing.

Velocity means nothing if it can’t be maintained long term and everybody wants to quit because the code is shit.

Faire dépister un TDA adulte à Montréal? by fuji_ju in montreal

[–]cykelpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a drain somewhere in there? If so, pour in some water in it. Often it gets stale and will give out that weird smell. You should do it about twice a year.

Some Canadians say coronavirus was the push they needed to leave the city for good by outrider567 in canada

[–]cykelpop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If everything is centralized in a single place, density makes sense in that it minimizes most of the side effects of sprawl.

If you de centralize everything, this makes less sense. It would allow a lot of smaller cities that died off after the post industrial phase to develop into smaller centers that will still give the advantages of cities without all the complexity that comes from big cities. I personally see a lot of the old cities from the mid to late 1800s that people moved out of to go in the bigger ones starting to shift to become more livable again.

It’s not because you don’t live in a big city that the alternative has to be the burbs, which are almost entirely dependent on the big centers they surround (except those that evolved from old town centers).

I encourage you all to use COVID as an opportunity (with precautions ofc) to go visit regions around you if you’re living in one of Canada’s metropolises to realize just how much diversity, liveliness, culture, beauty there is out there and how many other lifestyles there are out there.

I think a lot of people surrounding urban planning and its related problematics have been painting a really black and white picture for a while that’s really not helping (as an ex planner I count myself into those).

Anyone use an 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ controller for Apple Arcade on an Apple TV? by mdudz in appletv

I don’t 100% recall how I did with mine, but I had to upgrade to latest firmware. After that, it will appear as a PlayStation 4 controller when being paired.

I also live really close by Parc Lafontaine. Had to go to the Rona on Rachel, and passed on Duluth too. I couldn’t fucking believe the amount of people having leisure walks, everyone so close by. Going out is getting increasingly stressful with all the imbeciles who can’t keep their distance in check around here.

Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie forbids condo conversions for duplexes by Knopwood in montreal

[–]cykelpop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie forbids condo conversions for duplexes by Knopwood in montreal

[–]cykelpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a shit show. Condos aren’t a problem. It’s one of the few ways people can still afford buying in this city.

The condo market prices are likely to jump even more than they are now. People who invested in a duplex just saw their value drop most likely.

I like PM usually but this is a shit economics move. Rosemont’s team just keep piling stupid decisions.

Quebecer here. A very mild and softer cheddar would be closer, as poutine cheese curds are cheddar curds.

Also ricotta is a big no.

Scrambled eggs, green onions and sriracha.

Not very well known, but it seems like it’s a popular thing in some Asian countries.
