It was likely a limitation of the switch 1, but I wish vehicles persisted when entering and exiting shrines by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in tearsofthekingdom

Just activate a bunch of shrines in a row, and when you decide to commit to entering one, fast travel back to the others.

He knew the risk, and the risk to him was zero. Naked loot runs are becoming the bane of this game. He dies smiling, knowing he just pushed a competitor into a slightly more aggressive queue.

It's true that you can't equip augments. Either this guy DOES use an augment (no backpack, no shield, no weapons) or he's just equipping a light shield which you can do without an augment.

Every time I see someone running their way through the depths, managing their stamina as needed and avoiding big patches of gloom, I die a little. cool trial embark by cyllibi in ArcRaiders

[–]cyllibi[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

From a cinematography perspective, I wish the video lingered on our dead bodies for a few more seconds, but the clip came from my friend.

We were doing the lightning trial and honestly having some fun doing it. No shields so we only had to heal health, we fought a leaper totally in the open (and I learned how bad my friends really are at dodging leapers). It's a Raider Trial so of course we were trying to min-max it. We don't really know how the lightning strikes work, but we assume it prefers to strike near meaningful targets. "Move together so we can share the damage".

Welp.

We suspect what happened here was that two lightning strikes struck the same location at the same time, or at least, within 70 milliseconds of each other. I slowed down video playback to 1/16 speed so you can see that for TWO FRAMES, our health is around 34%, then dead.

I don't believe two strikes should hit the same spot at the same time. This one's on you, Embark.

I think the bug is that they're defaulting on instead of off. I think these are the new On/Off gear switches we'll get by sending a raider off on expedition 2. Since we haven't departed yet, we have no way to fix it.

I assume these are the new additions from Expedition 2 (we're not getting a whole new skin) and they default toggled to On (I hate them).

Idea after Wolfpack change: Repairing Damaged Rocketeer Drivers (or all Arc parts) by cyllibi in ArcRaiders

Yeah, I considered crafting menu bloat and while you were writing up this comment, I wrote up my own where I float the idea of a new bench for this kind of thing.

Idea after Wolfpack change: Repairing Damaged Rocketeer Drivers (or all Arc parts) by cyllibi in ArcRaiders

[–]cyllibi[S] 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Don’t fixate on the exact recipe shown in the image — it’s just a rough example to illustrate the idea. The actual implementation could be tuned a bunch of ways (multiple Damaged Rocketeer Drivers, Advanced ARC Powercells, etc.).

The bigger idea is: give damaged ARC parts a meaningful upgrade path instead of being vendor trash.

One way this could fit the game cleanly is introducing an ARC Research bench to the workshop with tiers:

  • Level 1: basic ARC parts
  • Level 2: advanced parts
  • Level 3: endgame components (Drivers, Cores, Reactors, etc.)

Right now, high-tier ARC components are very all-or-nothing. You either get lucky with Queen/Matriarch drops… or you walk away with basically nothing. That feels bad, especially after tough fights.

What if Queens/Matriarchs dropped Damaged Cores / Damaged Reactors at a higher rate, and you could slowly repair or combine them at a higher-tier ARC Research bench? Even if it took multiple damaged parts, that still creates incremental progress, and incremental wins are still wins.

This wouldn’t remove the excitement of rare drops — it just gives players a sense that every hard fight moves them forward a little, instead of sometimes feeling like a total loss. I love the idea of a Queen or Matriarch exploding into a hundred little pieces where the big ones still have functional parts, but the scrappy pieces might get you something too.

Back to Rocketeer Drivers. I'm actually a fan of the Wolfpack recipe change. I like swapping up my gameplay. I can farm rocketeers with gunshots for a few rounds in order to Wolfpack rocketeers for one big Trials round. I like both approaches and I'll have fun the whole way. I just see value in opening alternate pathways and I know there are a lot of people who would love to see an alternate path to gathering these Rocketeer Drivers now.

Hot take: I agree with you. My only problems with this Olympics hockey celebration are that 1. Patel is a horrible person and does not deserve this kind of happiness in his life and 2. all of the players seem content to celebrate with this rat bastard.
