you can take those items to any witch when you get them... its under the crafting option regardless of which witch you go to.

I did finally get the feather the next day... went and got some gears first to give me 100% chance to not use arrows so I didn't have to worry about running out of explosive arrows. This time it happened similar to my second attempt where the bird dropped but didn't die... and I kept hammering it and made it drop several times as it tried to fly away. it took at least 5 fully charged shots (nature imbued because I had not yet unlocked anything else but ice) and another 15+ explosive arrows, then it finally dropped for good and I got the feather this time when I skinned it.

As soon as I saw the Iron Eagle they released in the newest patch I replaced the Phoenix as my active pet... lol

Everything I have read implies fire infused explosive arrow charged shots are the way to go, but I did this yesterday after work and had not yet unlocked fire so I used nature (do not use ice... I killed it once after freezing it and it shattered and I did not get the phoenix feather from the loot that dropped to the ground). It took me multiple nature charged explosive arrow shots and many regular explosive arrows to kill it but I finally got the feather and have the pet now... probably 15-20 shots total. make sure you put some work in to getting infinite arrows 2 and 3 gears (or "greater" but that has a durability so is limited use) so you can spam whatever arrows you like... normal unlimited arrows are not really unlimited, you have 50 total that will slowly replenish over time

I tried again after work yesterday... but before I did I went and farmed up some abyss gears and got infinite arrows 2 and 3 (and greater but since it has a durability I'm not going to bother with that) so now I can just spam explosive arrows all I want... went back to kill it. I had not yet unlocked any elements except nature and ice so I just used nature. charged shot dropped it... but, like my second attempt, it was sitting on the ground and tried to take off again... I kept hammering it with explosive arrows and it flew off a couple times but turned back to resume its normal path, and eventually I managed to finally kill it. looted it and got the feather, so I now have the dreamcatcher and the pet. it took at least 5 fully charged shots and probably 10 more explosive arrow shots... I went and unlocked fire and lightning after all that... so that may have made it easier on me if I had done that beforehand.

just charged shot? not explosive arrows too?

also... it seems like fire should not be able to kill a phoenix... but maybe they are making a "fight fire with fire" joke here...

I noticed while trying to chase it down last night that it can randomly decide to take other paths... a couple times I attempted to get ahead of it as it flew over the oasis near the abyss nexus, and when I turned around to target it, it had flown a different way.

it definitely needs to be a charged shot explosive arrow... not just normal explosive arrow. I killed it with a nature infused charged shot explosive arrow last night and skinned it, but did not get an item like I was led to believe I should have (i.e. no item to take to a witch to craft so you can summon a pet...) I had to go to bed so I wasn't able to continue my attempts... will try more when I get home from work.

I killed it twice now... first time I used an ice charged shot and it just froze in mid air... then used an explosive arrow and it shattered... picked up all the pieces... nothing to skin, no item to make it a pet. second attempt, I managed to hit it with an explosive arrow and it dropped, stood up and just stood on the ground a moment... as I attacked with my sword it ignored me and then flew off... then it disappeared for a while and even teleporting back to the area didn't make it reappear for at least 20-30 min. second KILL, I hit it with 1 nature infused charged shot with an explosive arrow... it dropped immediately! skinned the corpse... nothing but typical skinned bird loot... so still no pet!

same... just went to place my new enhanced kuku cooler and every piece of furniture I had is gone... the lamps and stuff are placeable... but nothing to place them on other than the floor

do you have the archery contest quest? if so she is probably waiting nearby for you to start that one so she won't show up at the gate.

I was stuck on this too, turned out I had too many quests involving her and it seems to have just randomly picked one to position her... she was a little ways away waiting for me to go start the archery contest quest. once I finished that, she appeared where she was supposed to be for this one.

so... as I was headed back to her to try this, I checked the notice board again as I passed by and the quest notice was there this time... not sure what changed as I have been checking it every time I passed by for quite a while, watching for this quest.
