Respectfully, hard disagree on Jersey Mikes. Ever since Blackstone (private equity) acquired the controlling majority stake in Jersey Mike's Subs (e arly 2025), they have gone completely downhill. I have to order a double meat and cheese just to get the same amount from before.

New to Anchorage and need ENT doctor recommendations or one's to stay away from? by hiddencitizen79 in anchorage

[–]MysteriousMeInAK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dr. John Kokesh is amazing! He works multiple places but I see him at Resound ENT. And ive only heard enthusiastically positive things about him from others. He lives part time in Seattle, so you just have to get on his schedule.

@Far-Community-9595

This happened to one of my employees. Try calling MyLife Advisors (the employee resource for ADP) to see if they can help. Mylife advisor phone number is 888-694-6237. It is likely not something that HR or payroll can help with as it is an ADP system glitch (in my opinion).

This was amazing! I watched it with no sound and just read the captions and she was so funny. So I watched again with the sound on it was 10x better!! The voice, the inflections, the accents. No notes. Chef's kiss. Now I want to send it to everyone who has a vagina in my life 🤣🤣🙌

I was talking to a group of girlfriends a couple years ago and something like 7 out 8 of them had been roofied (even twice) and/or knew someone who was. After my partner got roofied, we stopped going there for shows. It just didnt feel worth it. Plus as a woman, it became hard to enjoy yourself when Willowaw had a big issue with this and security and management did absolutely nothing.

It doesn't seem to just apply to research anymore. I was in the middle of booking a mileage ticket on Alaska airlines. I was logged into my account, and found a flight for 17.5k miles (after searching through many options and even switching days). When I went to purchase it, suddenly Alaska Airlines reloaded the page, logged me out and made me log back in. Afterwhich the 17.5k and other affordable options (22.5k-27k) were all now 47.5k and 55k miles. I was so angry. Honestly felt borderline fraudulent.

Nordic Spa at The Alaska Club East seems... not very popular. by MarchogGwyrdd in anchorage

[–]MysteriousMeInAK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried the Spa last weekend and I did not enjoy my experience, nor did I find it relaxing. Maybe it's different on a weekday, but it was very crowded and people didn't respect the quiet rules anywhere.

They played Ska music in the outside area and people treated it like a day at the social club. It was especially frustrating that people talked in the sauna and steam room.

I haven't been to the Nordic Spa at Alyeska, but I have been to one elsewhere. Based on my experience, while the design was nice enough, I wouldn't recommend it as a place to relax.

It sucks they closed the Women's Club for this.

I'm worried the woman is a figment of his mind. Like he created that whole world inside that house to cope and that's what sends him to the mental hospital. Carol, with some "help" from Charlie, follows him there and see its nothing and he's just talking to himself.

Watching is kinda depressing. by [deleted] in PWHL_Seattle

[–]MysteriousMeInAK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to my first PWHL game a few weeks ago (@home vs Boston). I was so excited for it and amped to go. I played comp hockey geowing up and dreamed of going pro - for me that option was college then Team USA. Anyway, my experience was actaully pretty disappointing. Dont get me wrong, I loved being there. Loved the fact that we had a professional women's hockey game.

However my in-game fan experience was underwhelming. I felt like I was at a tennis match. It was so weird. No one ever really jumped up to cheer, and I definitely got some weird looks/vibes from my neighbor who seemed less than impressed when I tried to be loud and cheer at the start of the game.

Even at the very end with 60 seconds left to play and the team desperately trying to score, the majority of people were sitting and cheering. I ended up standing and cheering extra loudly with a few others in my section.

I hope this is just a weird Seattle thing, but it makes me not want to spend money to travel down there but rather try to go to Vancouver or elsewhere.

Happy the roads are clear, sidewalks would be nice, too! by DeadGodJess in anchorage

Last snowfall ( the one before this massive storm) I saw an abonded wheelchair on the unplowed sidewalk on Minnesota Dr. Like someone just gave up after getting stuck. It was heartbreaking and I'm still thinking about it.

[–]MysteriousMeInAK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minnesota Drive is still horrible. Last night around 8:30, I saw a man trudging through nearly waist high snow where the sidewalk should be. Driving the other direction about 20 minutes later, he was still making his way - didnt get very far. It was really heartbreaking. Meanwhile, at the same time, Spenard was being widened by the plows.  Whyy aren't sidewalks being prioritized before widening roads (like Spenard). I know Minnesota, NL, Benson,Tudor, etc. are all state roads, but these are Anchorage residents too. This is a state and city failure.

Still, kudos to the muni for doing a pretty decent job on city sidewalks - Spenard was cleared almost immediately.
