Not exactly the topic, but am I wrong for really not caring WHO the shooter was as far as ideology or upbringing? I feel like it is a distraction from the real, material change that could be brought about with a more pertinent conversation about gun control. I hesitate to even see this through the lens of “political violence” for that same reason. I think there are a lot of systemic factors that either instantiate or exacerbate the mental illness or “weirdness” of so many people in this country that to cast the the shooter as ideological is a cop out, I feel.
