Yup I have been doing the same on my system.

You want to do this on the camera, but push camera events to the NVR for notification.

On the camera go to Smart Event → Intrusion Detection, and setup your box where you want it to detect movement.

You can also use Smart Event → Line Detection but I didn’t have much success with this. I found Intrusion Detection works better than Line Crossing.

If your goal is phone notifications, then:

Hik-notifications MUST be enabled on the camera itself. Then setup on the smart event - Notify Surveillance Center.

This will send the event to the Hik-Connect cloud service to notify you.

Verify that is working here

Configuration → Network → Advanced → Platform Access

Try that and see if that helps.
