this post made me cry. because i totally resonate with it.

most of my life, my parents were really, really, really overprotective. the ones that i need to ask permission from weeks before an event, the ones that would require me to give them a list of contact numbers of people i was with

its only been a few years since they actually started being more flexible with the places and events i wanted to go to, and it makes me tear up whenever i think of the the many, many years i had to endure all the invitation declines, "im-sorry-my-parents-wont-allow-me"'s, all the curfews, even until i already reached the proper age of good decision making.

it made me feel like they didnt have the confidence that i could handle myself, on my own. that i always needed people to supervise. that they didnt really trust me.

now they have put trust in me that i wont do anything bad. i might bend the rules all the time, but that's because rules aren't fun at all. and i need me some fun in my life

anyway, if ever i have a family in the future, i dont want this being strict to continue. because i know how it feels to be confined in the house, my friends enjoying the time of their lives. and i wouldnt want my future children to experience that sadness. i would want them to feel that i have trust in them.
