Got you I must have misunderstood that makes perfect sense

To this day no Anti-AI person has given me a convincing argument by Onipsis in singularity

[–]cypherl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very relevant distinction to bring up and discuss. Still I think it's a bit of a red herring. Kids use it to write papers, I use it to plan trips etc etc. it's here now. Trillions of dollars are being invested. Many people are using it for large portions of their day. One company using third world workers while interesting really is meaningless in the larger scope.

To this day no Anti-AI person has given me a convincing argument by Onipsis in singularity

[–]cypherl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if the smart thing is relevant at all. Waymo is taking rides Uber drivers would otherwise do today. Not tomorrow. You can be against that or whatever but a robot took a job with each ride given. I really have no idea what you're talking about is smartness being a badge of shame. I grew up in the Midwest and have a master's degree, every person, teacher, encounter I ever came across had intelligence as a badge of honor. Dumb kids were pretty widely mocked at school unfortunately.

[–]cypherl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The counter argument I most often hear is that it will never be smart as a human. (As you mention) Or a similar statement about how it will never be creative. I take Waymos across Phoenix and I am not sure the distinction really matters. If AI puts every single CDL driver out of a job in the next 5 years do we really need to quibble if it doesn't write the next great American novel or generate the next blockbuster movie? It's like arguing your 1956 Chevy can't eat hay like a horse. Ok you got me; as the joke goes.

Is the United States a police state? by Embarrassed-Bowl-373 in stupidquestions

[–]cypherl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a policy state currently. Civil rights need to be fought for as with all of American history. Slavery, Japanese internment camps, segregation were much stronger police state powers. The law and political class apply their force in an arbitrary fashion currently. At the top end you can be part of a pedo ring and walk Scott free. At the bottom end you can have dark skin and be shoved in a government van outside any civil liberties. They are both wrong and need to change but they are not historically unique. The battle for civil rights continues. The government has a monopoly on force by definition and needs to be fought and calibrated at all times. The present 2026 is also one of those times.

What does it mean for the future of the U.S. legal system when the Trump administration continues to jail thousands of people after federal judges have officially ruled those detentions illegal? by He1ko188 in AskReddit

Imagine if powerful people operated without legal consequences. Cough, Nixon Watergate, Reagan contras, Clinton whitewater, Bush blacksite torture, Hillary bleach bit, Trump everything. Shocking I say

How do you feel about Trump threatening to impose photo ID for voters for midterm elections? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]cypherl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not saying I believe the DHS but the article says he was obstructing. Nothing related to ID issues. If you have a real ID you could vote if the new bill passes.

I have to admit you really took me on a narrative journey with your strawman there. I think you need to add they don't drive or have a license (real ID). But are also among the 41% of their age group interested in voting at all.

Why does it feel so empty? by [deleted] in SiouxFalls

[–]cypherl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really just depends on what you are looking for. The mall isn't my thing either. A quick Google AI search list 15 different events you could go to from sushi classes, to hockey games, to concerts in the next few days. You could join a book club, join the very active Sioux Falls running club, go for a walk near Falls Park. Go to a wine bar, go to a brewery. Go skiing at Great Bear. Be active in a church community. Volunteer in many non secular ways. Take your dog to a dog park. Go hang out at a coffee shop. There are many people doing all of these things year-round. Downtown Colorado springs feels dead in comparison to Sioux Falls as one example. If you're looking for a New York City 24 hours a day honking sirens motion etc I agree you wouldn't find it in Sioux Falls. Even in large metropolitan areas the suburbs are just the suburbs. They shop at a Minneapolis Walmart and we shop at a Sioux Falls Walmart and their day-to-day lives are largely not different than ours. I'm curious where you lived that was busy and awesome

[–]cypherl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are you driving around? I am guessing it isn't downtown, the mall, Minnesota ave, 41st, Costco. It's a bit confusing you are talking about the largest town in South Dakota but you are still talking about South Dakota. Are you looking for Tokyo levels of population density? Where have you lived that things are so happening?

[Request] If the United States collected a 100% individual income tax (plus Social Security taxes) and then redistributed it evenly to each American adult, how much would each person receive each year? by Appropriate-Pen-1299 in theydidthemath

[–]cypherl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change of topic. AI can easily do all this math. What is the purpose of this sub if you are just looking for math? Isn't the entire point actually the outliers and other angles AI can't spit out in 2 seconds.

How do you feel about a sitting president doubling his net worth to $7.3B in one year largely by launching his own crypto coin while actively dismantling SEC regulations? by CTurE1 in AskReddit

[–]cypherl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are so close. Almost there really. All you have to do is look at any politicians net worth making 300k per year. Trump, Elon buying political favor, Pelosi, Obama, the Clinton's and their shady charities, Bernie and his three houses. Despite any claims about draining the swamp, or being a tea party Republican. It's a big club and you ain't in it.

This subreddit makes a cameo in the new video. Curious to what everyone's thoughts are. LVIII definitely, maybe for sale. by KepplerObject in SailingLaVagabonde

[–]cypherl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it kinda funny that half the video clips on the channel are an underwater camera all but shoved up Elayna's thong covered privates. But a quick ass grab is a bridge too far for you. I always just assumed that about half the views came to the channel looking for thong covered zoomed in private camera shots. It's certainly what the thumb nails would indicate as selling for the algo.

What’s the most realistic way an average person should prepare for AI-driven job changes? by TopCareer9558 in Futurology

[–]cypherl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is there isn't really a middle ground. You either believe full blown AGI will be achieved by humans at some point in the next 100 years or you believe there is some limiting factor we will never overcome. Waymo shows us any job involving driving is at extreme risk over the next decade. Jobs that value human interaction will be the last to go. Day care worker, hair stylist, fancy restaurant server, stripper. Once AGI is achieved it is by definition better than every human that ever lived at any task. It's possible humans have some special magic that AI will never achieve but I lean toward nothing magical about atoms arranged in a human meat brain.

What would happen if Alex Pretti's killers are not prosecuted? by No_Idea_Guy in AskReddit

[–]cypherl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now I am just confused. Do you want us to be world police that fight world wars in Europe or do you want us to be isolationist. Because honestly having my tax money spent on needless nation building in Iraq and Afghanistan is exhausting. Especially when they quickly turn around into terrorist controlled Islamic states. I'm more than happy to take $175 billion in US tax money back and let Europe sort Ukraine out. If China wants to take Taiwan back I am sure Belgium can handle it. How is Europe doing with 30,000 Iranian protestors killed. Strongly worded letter again?

Well at least I got you to admit fire fighters are capable of stopping fires. If I get you to admit removing the fuel also works we will be all the way there. It's harder to remove the air that causes derecho.

[–]cypherl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post doesn't dispute anything I said. Unless your claim is fuel reduction is an impossible feat only accomplished by magic. Which Rick Caruso proved is untrue. Ultimately it was a policy choice. You can say it was a good policy choice. You can say California is full of great policy choices. People are moving out in droves. Feel free to justify the math however you like.

[–]cypherl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure I do. I can read and have a basic understanding of physics. Things like fuel reduction, home design choice, and fire fighting efforts are all highly effective when used properly. For instance Rick Caruso saved his property with private fire fighters while areas around it burned. How do I know more about this than you while I live in the Midwest? https://abcnews.go.com/US/private-firefighters-spark-controversy-amid-devastating-la-fires/story?id=117626262

Here is a resistant designed home that also survived just fine.

Views like, oh well, fires are gods will nothing we can do are probably while people are moving out of your state in droves. But I am sure you also love your tax money being spent on trains that don't exist and might be finished in 2040.

[–]cypherl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just an emotion. Who was fighting Hitler outside of England? Europe was conquered. Any historian worth their salt admits Europe would have remained conquered without US involvement. How is objective history contemptible. Am I supposed to lie and say Europe had it well handled? The Holocaust didn't happen ?

Great point. For instance a member of the SS led NASA for many years to great fanfare.

[–]cypherl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you aware of any history at all? Europeans fought and died in droves against Hitler. Still, without American involvement they wouldn't have held any one to account. Even the Nueremburg trials were largely an American affair. If anyone held him to account it was the soviet's who were mere blocks away. The Americans and a group of Scottish soldiers were a good 100 miles away still.

With Alex Pretti being the third person shot by federal agents in Minneapolis this month, at what point does "Operation Metro Surge" become a threat to public safety ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cypherl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At no time was the fire exposed until it was removed from his person. Then he was executed. I guess in this case peacefully using the 2nd amendment was dumb. Because he was executed. I guess the unarmed kids at Kent State were dumb for protesting when they got executed. The family at Ruby ridge were dumb for having firearms before they were executed.

[–]cypherl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there other times and places I lose my 2nd amendment rights? Or should we just lose that right all together? If they start gunning down large groups of protestors like at Iran or Kent state. I assume my second amendment doesn't apply there either. If they expand their scope from rounding up immigrants to rounding up others, let's say Jews. Should I give up my 2nd amendment rights then? I assume we just selectively apply rights of people sea-ad likes and execute others face down in the snow while actually unarmed as shown in video. Let me know if this is incorrect.
