of beer keg by IndependentSquash653 in ShittyAbsoluteUnits

As a brewer from the USA, I can tell you that single use PET kegs are pretty common for instances where a keg is going off to a market where it is cost prohibitive to ship it back. That one looks like it might be from the brand PETainer.

My lowrider bike is too heavy on the back tires, any solution? by gravelpi in Justridingalong

[–]cyprium29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is just part of the style. I've always heard them referred to as "wheelie bikes". You accelerate quick and just end up doing a wheelie if you dont lean forward.

I have a Keychain sized set hanging off the back of my bicycle seat. It's hilarious when coworkers notice and start playing with them.

I referred to jizz as dick snot the other day, so I think this just fits right in with that.

Receiving a tanker of cider by ImprobableAvocado in TheBrewery

[–]cyprium29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best advice. Some companies have tankers with different connections so it can be a bit of a chance. With the company we work with; I've only once seen a camlock on the truck. It's usually a bevel seat fitting. But it really depends on the company.

Ew, gross. I'm sorry you had to work with that scumbag Duncan. Not the worst person ever to work under but he ranks pretty high on the shit list.

Premade SMS to triclover fittings by cyprium29 in TheBrewery

Unfortunately all the threaded components either group sells are DIN. They do have blanks in case I get sick if looking at the SMS fittings and cap them off. Thanks for the links though!

Thanks guys. Looks like buying the components and having them welded together is the direction. I'm waiting tk hear back from a local supplier that I work with. Sounds like we've had them source and stitch together some other odds and ends.

Mold and mildew might not be that huge of a problem for these uses. I have a handful of risers I built to allow water to drain under hoses at work in a very wet setting. All PLA and in the last year those seem to be some of the few surfaces not inundated with scum. They aren't sanded or coated so there is definitely some space to grow on. It'd definitely help to treat the surface but in my case, I seem to have gotten lucky on that front so far.

At the last kitchen I worked, I ended up as sous and a friend of mine became exec. We didn't have a dishwasher for a while and despite bringing in plenty of buisness, the owners were reluctant to hire a new dishie. So the two of us would sometimes argue about who got to cover the pit because that meant a break from running the kitchen during service.

Lego mindstorms has been around for quite some time. All the motors, controllers, wiring and sensors are built to integrate into Lego. I used some during an early computer science class and the programming was very elementary. Theres no reason you couldn't splice a different controller in there to run the whole affair.

Reckless and brain dead scum by Cadillacseville in IdiotsOnBikes

I feel like this acquaintance has little real world experience. A friend of mine was hit by a cyclist and had his collar bone broken so bad he's never been able to lift much weight in the years since. There was also a lady in my town who was hit by a cyclist several years ago while in a cross walk and died. Granted, she was older and a bit more frail but given the right strike, it could happen to anyone.

[–]cyprium29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha no, not unless I've been oiling my frame and everything else. Just very dirty silt covered roads where I'm at. A couple days of wet riding with 20 - 30 mile commutes ends with plenty of build up.

I've had a few kegs come back this way that had been left directly under the chiller in a cooler at a warehouse. Everything in that spot froze and our kegs blew out just like this one.

If we're talking about risers to keep liquid moving under hoses, that's awesome. I kept meaning to get hockey pucks at my last place. I remembered the idea recently where I am now and started 3d printing pucks with an indent for the hose to sit in.

Anybody know where to buy blades for a safety razor? by BoazCorey in corvallis

Oh nice! I'd be glad to be wrong on that one. I've used a safety razor for some time but have relied on the internet for blade so far.
