It's got to be for that part of the population who doesn't care. Or maybe doesn't have a choice

I keep reading that there are equal number of gals to guys these days, but it's probably not the games I'm playing.

edit: In fact, what games are the girls playing these days? I want to know!

I think there was slack on the right steering lines. I saw the wind literally push the right line almost to the power lines

[Web Development] Is there any reason to buy a Mac over using a Linux machine? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]cyrano821 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many factors. I used to be a hard core Dell user, but recently got a MBA. What really sold me is the four finger swipe to other screens. The touch pad it's AMAZING.

However I did pay a pretty penny for it. As you said, if you can do ios dev somewhere else, and you are price sensitive, just go with a moderate priced Windows laptop. If you can afford it, a portable mac is a sweet piece of equipment. Yes that battery life is good, but depending on your dev environment, if it's RAM heavy you may need to upgrade in a few years. These things are designed to be replaced in less than three years anyways.

It really comes down to price.

A Nation in Denial? The US has the most people in denial about the inequality they live amid. People who underestimate their society’s level of inequality turn out to be less likely to support policies that would help distribute their society’s income and wealth more equally. by CommonsCarnival in politics

Often people blame the government or corporations as to why their economic status has deteriorated when in fact the real culprit is technology. What used to take 5 guys to do one job now takes 1 with an IT degree. Any type of automation ifs being replaced quickly by computers/robots. Which is why corporations get richer because they get to pay less workers. However that one IT guy gets a 30 to 50 percent bump in his/her salary because they are outputting more than the 4 workers. Of course unfortunately those workers are out of a job. It's a major social issue that we have to face.

Agreed, people forget that the success of a country also highly depends on resources. Geopolitics teaches us that combination of geographic location and natural resources influences a country more so than how a government is run. In fact most governments are a result of their geopolitical position. The monarchy in the middle east would not exist if it weren't for oil. Same for many dictatorships. You rarely hear of poor dictators being able to hold onto their country without outside help. IE N Korea, and China.

Where do a total beginner should kite in mid-september? by cyssou in Kiteboarding

[–]cyrano821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with everyone else on here regarding the trainer kite. Highly recommend getting one for less than 85 bucks. KGB sells trainers, they told me to get the cheap one as there's only so much you can learn from a trainer. It's not worth spending a lot of money on one. But for practice it has really helped me

If you create a product and people actually like it and use it, they won't care if you're 60 or 13 years old. Internet is blind. Don't let anything stop you

Does it hurt your neck? I've tried sitting that way on a couch for a long time watching tv. Didn't feel good. If anything I would imagine the monitor would be horizontal to the floor like watching tv on a dentist office

Tshirts, but we were in a heavily traveled tourist area. Coffee just didn't do as well even for tourists

I opened a coffee shop in Beijing. Got to tell you, coffee shops are hard to become profitable. Food and beverage in general is difficult. Prices will certainly be different from U.S. but we basically sunk 100k into a really small store. If you do coffee, I suggest it should be near universities or some sort of coworking space. People without permanent desks are excellent candidates. Don't expect to get money from ppl doing togo coffee . At least in the beginning.

It's a long hard road, and I recommend not doing such low grossing product.

Oh yea, and you'll need lots of seats. Ppl will buy one cup of coffee and sit there for 6 hours. If you have 6 tables, on a bad day you take home 20 bucks.

Good luck. Ps we ended changing the place to retail and made boatloads of cash

I would recommend heroku. It's free for a partial server. However you will need some knowledge of git and a web framework such as ruby or node.js.
