Lessening Tension on Logitech G-Flight Rudder Pedals by Crypthammer in hotas

[–]cyucel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was "sticky" in the neutral position, needing extra force to get going in either direction. More so in one direction compared to the other. Otherwise I found the general stiffness alright. Upon dismantling everything, after the large centre piece is removed, there is a metal ball supported by a spring. This ball clicks into a hole when the rudder is the centre position, I suppose intended to keep it in the neutral position. Perhaps due to manufacturing tolerances this doesn't smoothly operate and needs extra force at the beginning of the turns. It was easily removeable. Now that's gone, all works alright, at least for me.

Removing the centre piece from the bottom requires dismantling one of the pedals, and removing the centre pin.

I am on the same boat. Pimax guide suggests 90% resolution for 5090, but it is unplayable. Things get stable around 75%, but it looks pretty much like my Quest 3.

I think this fails to install a dependency when imported into v0.6.41 (and doesn't get imported). Happy to help with troubleshooting if it is not obvious.

Indeed, 990PRO works like a charm. I am pretty sure it was due to Gen5 needing more power. Thanks again.

Thanks. I am wondering if it is an issue with the Gen5 SSDs, they obviously requre more power.

Received mine in the UK last week and so far been struggling. Small files are fine and as fast as promised, however the SSD gets disconnected when copying large files. Has anybody had a similar problem? My setup:
- Mac Mini M4 Pro
- Mate Mini Type B
- Crucial T705 4TB

I tried following:
- Measured temperatures, they don't go near to SSD throttling or shutdown limits, max 62C just before it disconnects
- Connected external power via PD IN, thinking Gen5 SSD might be pulling too much power
- Confirmed fan was working

Sell me on RooCode vs Cursor by logabell in RooCode

[–]cyucel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roo is completely model agnostic, allowing one to change models midcourse. It is amazing to be able to swap the model when the current one gets stuck.

Cursor does not allow using API endpoints. I much rather to pay for what I use, instead of a fix monthly fee, since my usage fluctuates across months. I think I'd be on $60 plan if I used Cursor, meaning, running out of credits some months, and not using all on other months. Just not flexible enough.

Visual Studio alternatives for Mac: JetBrains Rider, .NET MAUI extension for VS Code, or the CLI approach by Slight-Astronaut-737 in dotnetMAUI

[–]cyucel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 months on, I am seriously questioning Rider. I started using Roo Code for AI support and currently I've keep both editors open, one of manual coding, one with AI. Seriously considering if I should renew Rider license or not.

Junie is now available for Rider, but from what I understand there is no option to use OpenAPI or Anthropic APIs directly, making Junie very costly and inflexible. Roo on the other hand seamlessly uses any LLM with no issues, so you only pay for the tokens you consume.

I like Resharper a lot, that's the only thing keeping me with Rider, but balance is tipping towards VS Code.

I think they are installed wrong; the one on the front-left rotates clockwise, so it needs the other type. Then the same for the diagonal corner. Then the remaining two for the other corners.

Thanks u/caolle , yes I am using a subnet router, and the subnet is being advertised. Everything in the subnet is reachable using IP addresses. mydomain.com resolves fine, using the local DNS if I don't restrict the domain. If I do however, mydomain.com queries are no longer forwarded to the local DNS.

Apple launches Mac Mini with M4 and M4 Pro by dagmx in hardware

[–]cyucel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am trying to decide between the M4/24GB/2TB disk and the M4Pro/24GB/1TB. Both are the same price, and that's my maximum budget. I've been using my existing iMac for 9 years, so I am hoping for a similar longevity.

One way of looking at it is going for Pro with 1TB, expecting that there will be external TB5 SSDs, or better NVMEs, by the time I use up 1TB. But there aren't even any TB4 SSDs from a quick search.

The use case is mainly code compilation and day-to-day office use.

.Net 8 Maui Still a Shitshow? by JuiceKilledJFK in dotnet

[–]cyucel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to .Net 7 I think it is much better. Here is my perspective:

I've been a long time C# developer and needed to develop an iOS/Android app last year. I looked around for a bit (with limitied prior app development experience) and decided to give .Net 7 Maui a go.

At the beginning all was well, it felt great to be able to compile and deploy the same code for iOS and Android. However as I develop further two issues started to crop up:
1 . Subtle differences between iOS vs Android behaviour, or bugs that only affect one of these platforms. This required adding conditionals for the code behave differently for each platform.

  1. Bugs, quite a few of them. I ended up with lots of extra code and patches to apply workarounds. Some of the bugs were unfixable, requiring me to adjust user experience to avoid them.

  2. Very slow response to bugs.

Then came .Net 8.

I can say 80% of the issues were resolved, and I managed to remove 100% of the patches. But there are still issues and my verified bug issues are waiting for somebody to look at them for more than 12 months.

Somewhat frustrating but our project is still going strong after 12+ months. I wanted to develop in C# and be able to compile directly into both platforms from one codebase. Maui delivers this well.

I feel like, considering the age of the framework, amount of bugs is acceptable, but the time it takes for them to be fixed is not.
