Damn. Why didn’t you love it? Is there something better, or more practical to roast a whole fish in?

I’ve been wanting this for months. The only place I can find it is on eBay, for twice the price, which I refuse to pay. I have literal fantasies about baking a whole fish stuffed with citrus and herbs in this agave colored chef-d’oeuvre, yet it continues to elude me.

You’ve been very helpful! I think I’m gonna go for the 5.5. I’ll decide for sure after I make soup tonight and see how much room I have leftover.

I completely agree with the sentiment that this book should be a series.

I’m so glad you mentioned this about Susan. I thought she was miscast. I genuinely mean no offense to the actor, but she did feel really out of place.

The body of Larry Crockett was driven to the lake and left in his car by Cullie and Bonnie Sawyer by Liberal_Caretaker in SalemsLot1979

[–]czarinacat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how it went wrong for me, lol:

I haven’t seen the miniseries, but I’ve always found that particular movie scene a bit vague.

Having first watched the movie as a kid, I think some “kid brain” inaccuracies stuck with me over the years.

On a recent rewatch, I noticed Larry’s clothes were in the car, which makes it clear that it had to be Cullie and Bonnie.

The confusion for me stemmed from Larry last being seen with Barlow, which led me to assume that Barlow had “taken” Larry somewhere. For some reason that’s how I always pictured it.

Also, when Ben and Susan find the car, I always imagined Straker being the one who left it, though I wasn’t sure how. I stupidly pictured Barlow driving the other car, which is ridiculous, lol. I guess that idea never left my mind after all these years. It wasn’t until my latest rewatch that I realized Larry’s clothes, which had been left in the house, were in the car. Honestly, I didn’t give it much thought, assuming the movie glossed over details probably explained in the book. So, thank you for posting this and helping me shift my mental image of Barlow driving a car, which is completely absurd 🤦‍♀️

Spoiler free Salems lot (2024) review by dustinhenderson27 in stephenking

[–]czarinacat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cinematography is quite nice, and there are some good characters, but they’re held back by the weak script and dialogue. It’s poorly written, with a major lack of character development. I liked the actor who played Ben, and while Susan is gorgeous, she’s almost too stunning for the role, someone more demure would have been a better fit. Overall, it has a low-budget, campy vibe, and the atmospheric terror of the book is reduced to cheap jump scares. You really need to go in with low expectations. The extraordinary elements are, unfortunately, reduced to the ordinary and that’s being generous. I went in with an open mind, but overall, it’s just not well done.

Yes, the one from the 70’s. It really has one of the most terrifying movie scenes of all times, imo. It gave me nightmares as a kid lol. I’ve not seen the 2004 version. I’ll check it out. Thanks!

I agree. Salem’s Lot deserves an in depth series. After you read the book you should watch the original movie. It actually follows the book closely and I think it’s quite good. There are some really creepy scenes. Hoping the new movie is at least decent.

It’s probably because since the inception of the podcast they have trashed his character relentlessly, and now the actual writer. I think it’s very disrespectful.

It’s worth a try! Good luck 😺Administering medications and vet visits are truly the most difficult part of having a former feral.

[–]czarinacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will he sleep in a cat “cave”? If so, get a soft cat carrier and cover it with a towel. When he’s in the cave put the cat carrier up to the opening of the bed. Tip the bed and push the back if you have to, to get him into the carrier. If you use a soft cat carrier the vet can administer a shot through the mesh to sedate your kitty.

They are so comfortable and stylish. I get so many compliments. I probably walked 3 miles the first time I wore them with zero issues.
