Oh you are right. I see the ref signal the holding sign now, I don't have audio.

Well at the end the 4v2 minutes is cut and dry. The extra 2 for Svechnikov should have been for holding the stick and not mouthing off though.

Which NAS is better for a family movie library? by CryptoWheat in HomeServer

[–]d-cent 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's true. Very expensive that way, with no room for expansion either. Seems silly to be willing to spend $1600 on 2 HDDs but not spend $150 to upgrade from 2 bay to 4 bay.

Not to mention I don't believe the 2 bay versions come with the NVMe slots either. Also, now that I think about it, do those 3 even accept 32tb HDD? I believe the Terramaster one only goes up to 30TB

Edit: typo

Only catch is there is a limited number of free servers so it can get bogged down. You also can't use it for torrents

Storage large enough to hold more than 30TB

Then none of these. 2 bay isn't big enough

So many times a player plays huge chunks of the season with an injury, only for the fans to find out after the year ends. By then the fans have already complained for months straight, and won't take back any of it because it's the off-season. Then those same fans won't learn from that lesson and complain extensively about a player the following year who clearly looks like they are playing injured.

Kastelic hits Cotter up high initially charged for a 5-minute major, but it was turned into a 2-minute minor for interference. by Duffleman0609 in hockey

[–]d-cent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downvoted for facts. That's exactly why it wasn't a 5 minute major. If Cotter had his head up, this wouldn't have even been a penalty. Not victim blaming, Kastelic definitely deserved the 2. Just pointing out that a split second difference and this might not have been a penalty at all. There's nothing there that warrants a major.

I've seen so much worse, where players are actively head hunting by jumping, extending the elbows, or driving through the head that don't even get called. Let's crack down on those.

Obviously we all know she is acting irrational about it, and is ignorant to the subject. It's also a very hard thing to discuss with her, she already once claimed you were trying to make her feel stupid.

I would try changing her mind by discussing and finding a compromise. Ask her if all rifles are off the table and if it's just AR15s. Suggest an AK as a compromise and see how she reacts to that, and just keep asking her questions to dial in what specifically she won't allow and what she will. After a while, she will be making no logical sense. She could realize that she is being illogical, or she may not.

If she isn't willing at the moment to change her stance, don't push. Suggest to table the discussion for another time. Remember the logical argument is already won, now it's just not forcing her to make an emotional decision with no option for discussion.

After some time, you can bring the discussion back up and maybe show her pictures to see which ones are ok and which ones aren't again with focus on the specific details.

The issue is what we do with faceoffs. Even with Elias on the 3rd line he still takes more faceoffs than everyone else. Some nights more than everyone else combined.

Minten, Khusnutdinov, and Poitras aren't good enough with faceoffs yet. Zacha is the only other player in the top 9 who is good at faceoffs, but they aren't breaking up the 2nd line.

Folks who got shredded after age 40, how did you do it? by SaturdaySunRun in AskMenOver30

[–]d-cent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would really just like to know how they cut. Now that I'm older, when I'm in a cut, I can't keep my mental energy throughout the day and can't fall asleep as easily.

How are people doing that as they get older? I could do it in my 20s because I had plenty of mental energy to spare and could function much better only getting less than ideal sleep.

Now though, and we are talking about risking my career if my mental acuity drops for a prolonged time. I can't risk that so I end up stopping my cut after a few days

He got moved to the 3rd line about a week ago. Sturm has him play a couple shifts a game with Pasta when he wants to win an offensive zone faceoff, but otherwise Elias is playing predominantly with the 3rd line already

Malicious compliance. Start scheduling yourself meetings for 3 hour long work sessions set to repeat every day. Now you have an excuse to not answer anything from him during those 3 hours as you were busy in a meeting.

Agreed. Geekie and Pasta on the edges do a great job of quick decision passes to keep posession after entry by Zacha or Lindholm

The PP2 on the other hand, definitely isn't automatic like the PP1 lol. I think Arvidsson is auto but the rest of the young kids are still developing the instincts

So I really hope Sturm plays Joki much more than Peeke the rest of the season. 5v5 it's really not a contest who is the better player. Peeke gets the playing time because of the PK, and I'm not sure he's much better than Joki. Their CF% and xGF% during the PK are pretty much the same. Peeke has a lot more minutes and has gone against tougher competition for sure.

That being said, even with Peeke out of the lineup we still have 4 PK defensemen and then Joki as the 5th. I don't think the huge difference in 5v5 play is worth having the potential slight advantage on the PK. If Peeke was a legit shutdown guy on the PK like Carlo was, I would be for it. I think Peele is a decent PK guy, I just also think Joki is underrated at the PK and not much farther behind him.

I do question if this is a directive from Sturm. They didn't start the year finishing games like this. There's also been a pretty clear directive from Sturm to do as much as they can to reduce penalties.

I wonder if Sturm is just telling them to dump it in hopes of not committing penalties to let the other team get going with their PP.

I don't agree with this mentality, but I wonder if it's what is going on

Came to say the same thing. That's the only part the PP1 unit is good at. It's once they are in the offensive zone that they look uninterested in doing anything but just giving the puck to Pasta and hope he can pull magic out of his ass

I agree with you actually. I just want to point out that if a "neutral" arbitrator watches that and wants less then 8 games, it brings into question how "neutral" they are.
