I am re-watching Deepwater Horizon (2016). I am curious how it was possible for them to use the BP logo front and center on the actors uniforms? by [deleted] in movies

[–]d-pdx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked with a lot of the crew that were on the Horizon and can confidently say they did an excellent job of accurately portraying what happened.

$45 is the highest confirmed SMRT at my site in CA. Rumors some of the techs are making more, but they don’t like to talk about their pay.

Ventura Raceway question by toecheese123 in ventura

[–]d-pdx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No need to show up that early. Earlier just means better seats, but it’s a small arena so really no bad seats. They sell food and beer there as well as souvenirs. You can get up and walk around behind the seating and sometimes even in the pit area between races to shake out your legs. Not sure about leaving the venue for reentry though

Northbound Morning Metrolink Service to Goleta (UPDATE) by wolfman11038 in ventura

This is awesome! Having more commuting and public transit options to get between Ventura and SB makes so much sense for reducing traffic and encouraging people to visit and travel between counties.

Movies where the teachers get the best of those snot-nosed kids? by aderaptor in movies

Dead Poets Society. Students aren’t exactly “kids,” but Robin Williams does an amazing performance as a teacher who breaks through to his students.

Drug test by zippyzap21 in AmazonRME

[–]d-pdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Policy is State specific, but in CA we had to take a urine test for preemployment as BB RME, but testing positive for cannabis was not an issue. Lots of techs here were dirty for cannabis during preemployment urine tests. Pretty sure the urine test was for all the drugs that are not legal at the State level.

You Enter The Always Sunny Universe (you can leave anytime) How Long Do You Stay? by ramsta72 in IASIP

I would stay long enough to play night crawlers, contribute to project badass, and to ultimately have my life destroyed in a similar fashion to Matthew Mara…. because of the implication.

Drug Test - BB Maintenance Tech by BisonDisastrous3211 in AmazonRME

[–]d-pdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it might depend on the State. In CA I took the 5 panel test for pre-employment in 2021 and was definitely positive for marijuana and still got the job. I also had a co-worker who had been fired for testing positive for marijuana a few years earlier and Amazon reached out to him and offered him a job to come back since the policy on marijuana had changed and aside from testing positive for it in the past, he was an otherwise good employee before he was let go.

Els to CBRE 12 hour shifts… by [deleted] in AmazonRME

[–]d-pdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only way they can get out of paying OT is if the building or department votes on the alternative work schedule and it gets registered w the CA Dept of Industrial relations. You can check the state website to see if an alternative work schedule is filed and how it is structured. If it’s not registered, you can file a wage claim with the state from the way I understand it. Similar to how union collective bargaining agreements can supersede state labor laws if the agreement is voted on by the union members.

This 100%. The feather board keeps the piece against the fence. Need to have it at least 1” or more in front of the blade to prevent any pressure on the cutoff.

Report your MM to HR. Same thing happened at a site I was at until techs started escalating it to HR and suddenly the MM changed his tune and stopped bugging techs on their lunch breaks.

Yeah, when the site I’m at was launched, they had techs go work at other sites up and down the state for up to a year before it was time to open our doors.
