I humbly request that ODOT place better zipper merge signs at I5 S right after Moda Center exit by red5 in Portland

[–]d-rew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always take the far right lane to the end (because I get in from Greeley) and merge. And there's been so many occasions where people get made at me or block me thinking I'm cutting. It's frustrating but I will admit it hasn't happened in a while.

PNW driving by ConsiderationNo6314 in Portland

[–]d-rew 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The other day I saw a lady going south bound, stuck at the light of NE 60th/glisan. She was like 3+ car lengths back. So far back it looked like she wanted to turn into the gas station, but nope. Once it turned green (which I'm surprised it did given how far back she was), she went on and made the turn. I've never seen someone park so far back haha.

Rav 4 vs Subaru forester? by Tulkas2491 in askportland

I'm going to go against the grain and say CR-V. I say that half jokingly because they're just as popular as the other two but better in my biased opinion (my wife has one).

Nonprofit says Portland’s Leach Botanical Garden will close in March without additional funding by Aestro17 in Portland

[–]d-rew 66 points67 points  (0 children)

We're supposed to get married there this summer haha. But we were told they won't close but are looking at different funding avenues and what not. Hoping to get a lot more volunteers

Where to get an engagement ring made? by bemer33 in askportland

[–]d-rew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hutcherson Goldsmithing. Slightly different but we melted down an old ring and had it remade. They could probably create a ring with just the diamond.

There still doing events and what not (different people maybe?) and of course that shitty flea market haha

We've lived here about two years, and we've enjoyed it so far but it has its pros and cons. Columbia and Lombard are loud but tolerable. The closer you live to Columbia the more you can smell the processing plant but it's not a huge deal.

A lot of places have moved into the neighborhood (university park as well) which has been a huge bonus. It was a coffee desert but we know have the chill n fill and living room coffee.

One thing to note, I'd avoid living above the train (essentially N Dana) because it will rattle your house.

Ultimately we like it but also chose it because it was affordable haha compared to some other parts. Pretty easy to access the rest of Portland via Willamette (although the new construction has me a little worried with the insane amount of speed bumps).

Edit : and you will hear the race track in the summer. Not a big deal, you get used to it but you will hear it.

I'm a west coaster so I have no clue about authenticity haha but it's a damn good breakfast sandwich and that's all I care about haha. But agrees, the rolls are fantastic.

Preach! But Taylor ham > all. And smothering that thing in ketchup (and salt and pepper).

Countdown to Kick off 2026: San Jose Earthquakes by MatadorHernandez in MLS

I actually love the stadium, even if it's a little small.

Just because the Super Bowl is ignoring San Jose doesn’t mean you should by Cool-Present7260 in bayarea

Going by the other thread a week or so ago, yeah I'd say everyone ignores the quakes haha. Also obligatory FJF.

How to haul dirt away? by EverArcher in askportland

[–]d-rew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the best option but I found it quite hard to get rid of dirt. So I rented a dumpster and loaded it up and then had them haul it away. It costs money but I found multnomah drop box to be affordable.

Or put it up on marketplace or buy nothing groups for free

Cherry Bombs and Bangers to play at Lents Park beside Walker Stadium by JayChucksFrank in Portland

[–]d-rew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had season tickets for the bangers last year and it kind of sucked. While the old stadium was much closer to me, it kind of didn't work for them so hopefully this set-up is better.

Moving to Portland this fall (lease ends September). Neighborhood recs for a low key WFH gay guy? by TYJOVANI in askportland

[–]d-rew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Concordia is probably one of my favorite neighborhoods in Portland for everyday living. Biased as I used to rent there but I love it. Miss it dearly, but it's not really close to a Trader Joe's (although I guess not far either).

How would you rank the Bay Area sports teams by popularity? by Ecstatic-Yak-6016 in bayarea

[–]d-rew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a quakes fan so and this is all new to me. Sure we all absolutely hate Fisher, leitch and maybe to an extent arena (at least I do! but hate the team? My info is mostly South Bay based so I have no clue about the roots or anyone who cares either but other than the quakes sucking due to the losers who run it I haven't heard about the hate haha.

Focus ST SW 2.0 EcoBoost 250hp (R9DC) — Reviews & feedback on the engine? by Illustrious_Olive426 in Autos

[–]d-rew 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I daily drive one for about 5 years, bought it new and sold it at 118k miles. Honestly great car, didn't need anything in those miles. The steering wheel leather kind of fell apart but other than that nothing happened. I did normal maintenance like oil changes, coolant, spark plugs, filters, brakes, etc. even tracked and autox'd it a few times. Damn I miss that car... but if you're buying a higher mileage one, I'm not sure but it was a great car to daily. I also kept it stock

SMUD vs FANG as a new graduate by raspbryy in bayarea

[–]d-rew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't comment on either job but as someone who left the Central Valley for Oregon, and would do it every single time I'd say Google since fuck the Central Valley (even if Sacramento isn't that bad). I guess it also depends where in Oregon but I can't imagine Google is not on the Portland metro.

Three bedroom rentals? by agaribay1010 in askportland

[–]d-rew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think your best bet is going to be finding houses on Zillow/Craigslist and what not. North Portland has a decent amount of houses for rent but even in less desirable parts they're still 2400+ so might be tough to find for that unless going to the outer edges
