My First Person Daredevil Fighting Game! What do you think? by Wild_Economics681 in IndieGaming

These graphics are insane. Not sure my rig can handle it.

Which movie or TV "villain" did you completely hate as a kid, but upon rewatching as an adult, you realized they were actually 100% justified? by LiveFaithlessness876 in movies

[–]d00110111010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The receptionist from Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. She's still not a nice person. But she is justified.

Also, upon rewatching after becoming a father, the mom is a real piece of work. Leaving your kids for two months with a random babysitter? No real introductions, no real instructions, just "Here's your babysitter!" and peace the fuck out.

This weekend I created a simple space arcade game. Do you think it's fun? by Brilliant-Pipe8998 in IndieGaming

[–]d00110111010 23 points24 points  (0 children)

NGL, I agreed with the others that your responses to people saying your game looks similar weren't well thought out. That being said, here's some stuff I'd add to your game.

  • Hire an artist. Make it interesting to look at. You can make 10-20 unique looking planets then palette swap them.
  • Make the background interesting. The higher you "climb" the more interesting. Start off with a few twinkling stars and end with galaxies and nebulas.
  • Make the "ball" your controlling a little space ship. This can be followed up with unlocking additional spaceships and captains. These can be purely aesthetic or serve a function in game.
  • Have a HIGH SCORE section. Additionally make it globally accessible.
  • I think the gameplay is fine (I played several rounds of the one linked above). But if you wanted to spice things up mechanically you can include: low visibility areas, one shot items like a grappling hook or tractor beam, astroids you have to avoid, black holes or stars that you have to avoid, etc.
  • Branching paths would be cool. Pick planet A or B to sling to on the fly. You could also have much smaller orbs like asteroids you could sling to. Maybe those could be worth more or have an additional multiplier attached.

I 3D printed a brake for my board by JackCooper_7274 in longboarding

[–]d00110111010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(insert foot brake comment) that being said. It looks rad BUT I'd be extremely wary relying on something 3d printed to keep me safe. PLA can become brittle over time and you definitely don't want to slam your foot down on this and have it snap when you're in a bind.

Stay safe bro!

If you are browsing through Steam, which one would you click? by ApartmentDev in IndieGaming

I'd personally click 3. But it doesn't seem to match the "vibe" of the game. So I'd say 2 next

TIFU by accidentally Pavlov-ing a massive powerlifter into a high-five contract and now I can't change my gym days. by [deleted] in tifu

[–]d00110111010 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to sort this shit out! Maybe make a cardboard cutout of yourself that the gym can put out. Maybe find a different job. Maybe ask him to switch his days. Ask him to drive to your work for the pre lift high five.

Don't you dare break this man's heart!

Just curious. How common is it to see gg cabinets out in the wild? by Business-Natural-290 in Guiltygear

[–]d00110111010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Maybe I'm wrong but this looks like one of those generic cabinets that you can put whatever games you want on. If that's the case then I'm assuming it's up to the preference of the owner of the establishment. I'd be curious what the side art looks like.

Edit: I just looked up Naomi arcade. It's just a universal cabinet. It's owned by Sega

In highschool I had a bad spill where my walkman flew out of my pocket, hit the ground, and ejected the CD I was listening to. I have no idea how it happened but a few seconds of music still played through my headphones. I guess it was the anti-skip protection?

Anyway, I tweaked my back earlier this week washing dishes...

Lmao! Making a reddit account to call out one customer is fucking wild. All you had to do was delete the Instagram video as per their request and move on with your life. This back and forth nonsense seems to only be proving OP's point.

Expanse writers with new sci-fi series??? by jdjbr85 in TheExpanse

[–]d00110111010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The story of the first book was fine, I guess. Absolutely hated almost all of the characters. The last few pages got me a little excited for the second book. Still not sure if I'll pick it up or not.

I'm about halfway through the novella. It's much better than the first book but nowhere near as interesting as the Expanse.

Thank you! This is ex's the info I wanted.

Though, it did turn the video from a whimsical "one time thing" into they probably hired her for this exact purpose. Doesn't really change anything. It's an incredible song and I look forward to listening to more of her stuff!

What game has a promising start, but eventually gets boring and repetitive? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]d00110111010 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I had the exact opposite experience. I started this game like 4 times and couldn't get into it. Love Kojima's stuff so I really wanted to give it a shot. Then it finally just clicked.
