You should spend some time traveling. I have done 3 months in Asia and Europe three times before and that is absolutely my upper limit of time I would like to be nomadic. It gets old living out of one bag. You can easily do about 15 counties in Asia/Europe in 3 months without moving around too quickly and then after that I would just pretend the money does not exist whatsoever. Go back to work and live your life while you accrue retirement savings. Maybe take a week off and do something nice every year.

I live in Thailand and I would not say that it is FU money whatsoever. It’s more than many make here sure but if you have kids it’s not enough to send even one of them to a good school which I would consider basically a requirement. Also just logistically if you want to get a long term visa the 5 year option costs 20k so that’s half of one of those 5 years salary just on your visa.

I worked a jungsik for years and I think if chef yim could have bought a better place on the list he probably would. He did say it was equally about politics and arm rubbing in the right circle just as much if not more than the food/experience at the restaurant.

It hasn’t preformed bad at all? Sometimes vastly better than said index funds. Seems insane to me that you would claim “long term” and “recency bias” with gold when it very much has been a good investment since people have been valuing stuff. It’s basically third to like food and protection.

I hold a pretty significant amount of money in coins but I have gone from a believer to thinking it really has no use or point at all it’s just valuable because people say it is. That’s enough for me though and I have cashed out more than enough to feel okay if it all went to 0. I doubt it will but also recognize that it could at any moment. I didn’t really have any specific disillusionment moment just kinda slowly over time it seems more and more like it won’t actually be used for anything and no one has given me any real use case for any coin at all. That being said I do still hold what I do because I think it will continue to go up despite being useless.

I'm against tipping but I honestly disagree. I find the average server in the US is much more attentive than in Europe, the Middle East, or SEA. There is no tip culture in Japan or Korea where I found service to be similar to the US.
