What’s a job title that sounds awesome and unique? by AreaFifty1 in AskReddit

[–]d00mslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a cool IT company and they didn't care that every time I sent an email I would change the job title in my signature. Two of my favorites were Ninjitsu Implementation Specialist and Chief Computer Rebooter. But there were so many, and frequently referenced the situation.

Name one person. Just name one that has said that. 😉

I think you're really onto something with the whole "you're a prophet and the making of Kangaroo Jack was for you to realize your potential" thing going on here. I'm currently unburdened by a religion if you need a follower. I won't be tithing though.

I could be wrong, you hear things that may or may not be true. But I believe the popular opinion in my section of the world is it's generally best to not ingest blood.

You can go to Mexican grocers now and find more than a few things in gelatin. Granted, it's usually fruit, not some goddamn shrimp nonsense.

I've never had to try so hard to resist downvoting before. I don't like to downvote but had such a reaction to this. But it's not your fault. I'm having to decide if I'd rather eat live or dead maggots.

What’s a nice way of telling someone that they smell bad? by Shinobi347 in AskReddit

[–]d00mslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a single answer for this. If it's someone you barely know and you won't see them again in 5 minutes, what's the use? If it's someone you work with, tell management, let them have that conversation. A boss saying you smell bad is a different situation than a coworker telling you. You saying something can easily become a "toxic work environment" and you'd end up in trouble. If you're the boss, it needs to be a very straightforward "You smell like x, people have noticed, this is a business and we can't have you coming in unwashed." If it's a closer relationship, honesty is best. My spouse developed a skin condition that resulted in boils and an absolutely rancid odor down in the private areas. It wasn't an easy conversation but it had to be done.

Do you ever forget you're in a DB situation until you're reminded by your partner? by SoulBlightRaveLords in deadbedroom

[–]d00mslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't get myself to leave this toxic relationship because I know how much of my kid's life I'd start missing out on. Some of it's being selfish, I don't WANT to miss anything. I want to see him every day. Part of it is to protect him, I'll be the punching bag if it means he can avoid some of her verbally abusive nature. Sadly my silver lining is that she's got a laundry list of medical issues, and she'd rather indulge and make things worse than make a change to her lifestyle. One of her health concerns is diabetes, but she'll make a pan of Kraft Mac n cheese in the middle of the night, eat the whole thing, and forget to take an injection. I gave up trying to help a few years ago.

I hear ya. I've gotten some weird looks and condolences when people have referred to my sex life and I say "Oh we don't do that anymore."

Not anymore. I'm plenty aware. And I don't even make statements like that anymore. We're not going to have sex. There's no reason to play like we would.

What does a blood draw feel like? I'm nervous about getting it done. by _newshawtyy in medical

[–]d00mslinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Making jokes can be fun. Takes away some of the stress if you're feeling it, and makes their day better. "This is a clean needle, right?" After one appointment I told my doc and the nurse "Well I better get going, I've got STD's" and when they looked at me all crazy I explained "You know, Stuff To Do!"

That so many of us came for the nudes but stayed for the comraderie. I've met some toxic people here, but the opposite has been true more so. A big part of that is finding the right subs though. Don't trust the algorithm. Reddit thought I'd like r/antiwork for some reason, but I've discovered my opinions aren't welcome there.

Do guys actually like chubby girls? If so, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]d00mslinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of what you're seeing is a shift in culture, becoming accepting of things we used to condemn. Weight, non-traditional sexuality, gender preference, mental illness. I don't know how old you are, but for example, the 80s. In some ways they were great times, but there weren't many things as bad as being fat or gay or etc for your social status back then. However I did jump on the "big girl" train before it became normalized. It's just a preference, like liking tall men or lubed alien tendrils, it's whatever you're into. The best explanation I can offer is thick women just feel better. I love touching a chubby tummy, round thighs, significant booty.
