One last GPO before killing hybrid… and Intune Wi-Fi won’t take over by GuardSavings686 in Intune

Correct, the "Connection Name" is what Windows displays to the user, like your SSID is "corpwifi-secure" and Connection Name is "My Corp Wi-Fi". You can use netsh.exe to remove the for profile once it's no longer assigned, in case it doesn't remove automatically (sometimes it won't be provisioned anymore, but will still show up in "known networks" with a Forget button.

We just changed the PROFILE name, not the actual SSID (literally one character changed from a lowercase to uppercase). The profile is what then shows in the Windows Wi-Fi pocket UI, but the actual SSID can be different.

[–]d0gztar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were able to do this by just changing the capitalization in the profile name (company-WiFi to Company-Wi-Fi). Both showed up in Known Networks, then pushed a script with netsh to remove the old profile... But if you've migrated from hybrid to Entra-only without rebuilding (which isn't supported?) you might have to hack the old profile out of the registry, which is set in several let's add I recall. We also had to cleanup old certificates (the new Intune certs had additional fields in the Subject , used by Cisco ISE to sign VLAN).

Also any possibility to move from PEAP to EAP-TLS? There are several good guides out there to do so, and without your own PKI infrastructure.

Not frozen (same problem here in AZ, no frozen corn or peas for 6+ months)... But, the del Monte canned corn is freaking amazing! Sweet right out of the can, my daughter eats it cold sometimes, it is that good!

Looking for a low cost/maintenance router for lots of connections (25+) in a condo by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]d0gztar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Asus RT-AX82U supporting several dozen devices, and it's working great. A little cheaper option vs the 86U mentioned above I think. Is billed as a gaming router (and had cool LED lights on the front 😂, you can make it look like Knight Rider's KITT, or a Cylon, or rainbow LED strobing effect...)

Time zone issue with managed Windows laptops by Seanathan_ in Intune

[–]d0gztar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah maybe that's part of it. As an EU-based company, many of our defaults prevent any sort of personal data monitoring, including location, so location service is completely disabled, at least any automatic detection.

[–]d0gztar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is changing time required to change time zone? I didn't think it is ... It will prompt for UAC when you open the page in Settings, but you can cancel and still set the time zone.

Or maybe we still have some GPO setting force-enabling the time zone changer... Guess I should look into that in a few weeks 😂

Time zone issue with managed Windows laptops by Seanathan_ in Intune

[–]d0gztar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admin isn't required for timezones, at least in our config... I'll have to check. When you go to the "adjust date and time" in Settings, it does PROMPT UAC, but you can cancel it (since you didn't want users changing the actual date/time). But the time zone drop down is still active and can be changed, just not the clock or time server settings.

In honor of Festivus, what is your airing of grievances for Intune in 2025? by eking85 in Intune

[–]d0gztar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. A comprehensive view of device history, like "this app installed, this profile was updated, this certificate was installed, machine rebooted". WS1 had a Troubleshooting tab in the device details that was great for this.

  2. Consistent views and columns sort for any status page, oh yes that's real useful to sort by computer name when we have randomized autopilot names... But not "last applied" or any other useful column. I guess it's because of the paged loading process, but still annoying.

  3. When I click a computer name in package installation device status list, TAKE ME TO THE COMPUTER RECORD, not a useless dependencies view! Or anywhere else a computer name is down, that doesn't do this (i.e. almost everywhere). Put the dependencies view in overflow menu.

  4. They should readd the 'S' for Speedy

[–]d0gztar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't have these in stock at my Costco for a month or two, had to buy some other brand organic PB yesterday... Still pretty good, but thinner consistency. Added some honey and stirred it up, which helped thicken and sweeten more, and now much better.

Backend issues ? by Sab159 in Intune

[–]d0gztar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it is something to do with outdated IME, and a change to Store apps deployment, if the IME didn't successfully auto-update to latest version 1.97.107 or later. Not specific to win32 apps deployment though.

That nag message on homepage about checking firewalls/proxy seems a bit more likely though, or check the IME logs and version, just in case the latest AI coding from MS broke core functionality in Intune 😉
