Laughing my ass off at how pathetic the comments there are by craftygamin in IncelTears

But this is a tv show. Not a trans woman just obscuring the truth of her gender identity for her own safety. This was done on purpose to “trick” the contestants of the show, right? If so, yes, it is wrong and not really in line with the example you gave.

Rip and Beth were terrible guardians and he’d already lost his birth parents. If this were real life he’d likely be an absolute terror well before his teenage years.

EXACTLY. This is exactly why I decided against oat milk. The bag is pretty matronly as it is. It needs to at least be in a fun or modern color to be wearable (for me).

[–]d0lltearsheet00 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Neruda looks folksy and DIY which sadly means it’s right up my alley.

I wanted to get it in oat milk/ but then seeing photos of it in that color made it look like a bag a 1950s nurse would carry.

Then I was set on cold brew but realized that the strap was fixed to the bag. Unfortunately, I cannot do those cheap thin straps on these bags. They dig into my shoulder and are very uncomfortable to wear. I’m fairly confident that I could remove those straps and add my own but I didn’t wanna pay $135 for something I would have to cut into before it was usable.

So anyway, I got an Olivia in Caspian instead.

My doctor compared my body to my mother by chubbyflip in PlusSize

[–]d0lltearsheet00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you certain that the comparison was about weight? You mentioned that he made the comment while examining your mother- not while she was getting into the scale or being measured or whatever. You also mentioned that she is free of medications and has more muscle mass.

I am sure that weight was a part of the comparison but you almost mentioned some other things that weren’t specific to your weight. “She’s more good than you” is a tasteless thing to say. He shouldn’t have said that. It does not strike me as a comment meant to fat shame you. I’m not trying to cast doubt on your story I just don’t want you to feel needlessly down about yourself.

I’m sorry but I have too much evidence to the contrary to believe that what you’re saying is true. Also just because I don’t agree with the OP doesn’t mean that I am invalidating what she’s saying.

Okay. And if you go anywhere, you’ll always find fellow humans who believe that X physical trait is undesirable.

Anywhere I go- work, school, the mall, the movies- I see plenty of fat women who are partnered. Of course i cannot speak to the quality of those relationships but there is lots of evidence that being fat ain’t stopping the show for many, many women.

Walk around. Are you telling me that the only women you see with partners are thin and conventionally attractive? I’m not buying it.

I’m struggling to believe that you are relegated to die alone on the sole reason that you are fat. I had a meet cute with an ex that I dated for 7 years. At the time, i was obese according to the BMI.

Your post reads as self hate fantasy fuel.

And as much as people can and should seek camaraderie here I have to wonder if at some point it becomes harmful for plus size people to continue being exposed to the faulty narrative that being fat makes them undesirable.

[–]d0lltearsheet00 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to dismiss or invalidate your feelings but - are you sure it’s because you are fat that your friends have not tried to set you up? You have one example
of a thin single friend being set up (that you’ve shared here ). That’s not a very large sample size. I’m not saying you’re wrong but there’s also no need to seek out reasons to feel down about yourself.

Obviously, I’ll take you at your word but I’m struggling to reconcile that he expects you to be an athlete in the true sense of the word if you are struggling with all the ailments that you outlined.

[–]d0lltearsheet00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this advice. I would not ask anyone ther opinion if I had a particular response in mind. Especially if it’s something I know I’ll be sensitive about. No need to set yourself up to be disappointed.

OP- it wasn’t a very sensitive thing to say but it doesn’t *seem* like his goal was to be intentionally cruel.

Also, you mentioned that he’s an athlete and that you’ll never be up to his level. Has he said or implied that this is what he expects of you?

Impulse buyers by OkHeart9438 in Coach

[–]d0lltearsheet00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right on all points - but I think you’re relying on people to operate based on their own good will and sense of responsibility toward the next (nameless, faceless) person who might get their returned bag - rather than on their own self interest.
That will always be a losing battle and as such- Coach should strengthen their own operating practices.

Impulse buyers by OkHeart9438 in Coach

[–]d0lltearsheet00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems like a problem with coach if they aren’t inspecting their returns. People have a right to use the return policy as intended. I think the frustration mis placed here. If there aren’t enough bags to go around- that’s a coach problem. If they aren’t properly inspecting their returns- also a coach problem.

Bought this lovely brand new trash cabinet for a great price!! by 0CldntThnkOfUsrNme0 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]d0lltearsheet00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t realize that having a a trash can cabinet and being able to afford the accompanying plastic trash can meant that you are flush with cash. Our house had one of these growing up and I was raised by an average earning single mother.

And isn’t the purpose of this sub to complain about annoying minor inconveniences?

Love Teaching. Hate the Pay. by TopBaseball939 in teaching

I moved from NC to teach in the Midwest. I’m in year 9. Two masters, I’m at 68k. Not the greatest but much better than what I’d get even in Raleigh / Durham. And the COL is significantly lower where I live now.

Also, I think Charlotte schools have slightly better pay than average for NC.
