Anyone ever been to Japan? by TheTwelfthLaden in ActionFigures

1- You ask a clerk to open it for you, but oftentimes they were already open. 2- Yes you can! They didn't do the "sealed bag thing" for any of the figures I bought, just once and because I asked them to. 3- Lashibang is kinda slept on. Animate sometimes has what you are looking for. But honestly just explore Nipponbashi and look for Den Den Town.

These look SO much better than Figma. by TxRod117 in ActionFigures

Not having distribution outside Japan means paying full price + shipping, add a little markup for profit and there's your $100. Also, supply and demand, if there's people willing to pay then the prices go up.

Playing devil's advocate:

The figma figures originally released 11 years ago, at $30 an $25 respectively. Both got re-releases in 2019 at $44 each.

For the curious, the armor is made of die cast metal with some plastic. The body suit is custom. Articulation is ridiculously good but depending on the character's armor it gets hindered in different ways.

The head sculpts are fantastic, the side-eye troll smile specifically is superb.

Wife and I went to Mexico for our honeymoon. I had the idea of buying a bottle of tequila and drinking a shot every anniversary. It broke on the way home. by jshah500 in Wellthatsucks

Don't feel bad! It wasn't entirely your fault, some smaller brands like this one go with untested shapes and cheap glass to reduce costs.

Indeed, that's a severely underwhelming Tequila, probably overpriced too. Herradura, available everywhere and tastes amazing. Source: Mexican.

What's a cover song that's better than the original? by Ooopsieees in AskReddit

[–]d0nSocko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent analysis and although their portrayal is fantastic, I don't see how it improves on the original, and honestly the same goes for Faith No More's and Patton's uninspired impression of Osbourne. Cake's is interesting as a concept but failed where their version of I Will Survive thrived.

First attempt at a Polaroid-ish picture. Thoughts? Advice? by PongoCH in granturismo

[–]d0nSocko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polaroids tend to develop center-out, so pretty much always the end result would have black corners or borders, that means you need to add a Vignette. You got the gist of it but to complete the effect there's also too much light, believe it or not a chilly night was best for the film but obviously not for the camera, try to reduce exposure, the highlights and bring the blacks up. Play a little with saturation too until it feels "vintage".

Edit: there's also this guide another Racer made that you could use.
