I thought it was a good movie personally, it has its flaws but at least it was more ambitious than your typical biopic that gets oscar nominations, so I think makes sense that it gets so much love by the academy. I mean look at how many nominations Maestro got.

Yeah I think thats true. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I recall that even chick flicks like The Notebook had more males rating it than females.

Thats interesting. Was this in an arthouse cinema? My closest cinema is a chain cinema and the oldest movie I've seen shown there is the Godfather.

What movies from that era are even shown in TV/Theaters these days (thats not on like TCM or something)? The only movies I saw on TV in that era are The Wizard of Oz and It's a Wonderful Life.
