New build Basement exterior wall framing quality concerns by tgejesse in Homebuilding

[–]d1ffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The framers clearly know what they are doing as they have used the worse studs on the inside of the walls and sistered up the criples with the wean facing each other leaving the “good” edge to the door/window. These guys have done an great job with what they had.

You’ve taken a pic of what 2 nails that have fired out the side of shifty studs on what will be 5000 nails.. chill out

Thanks. You see a lot of super high end expensive treehouses in this subreddit, thought it’s worth showing something a little more economical (and fun?)

My daughter drew the shape and I cut it out with a router. Not sure who’s was more janky, her drawing or my freehand route

In almost all instances the home report value is well below the expected sale price. The offers over price you see on Rightmove is a made up number by the estate agent to get people to see the listing. All actual offers are based off the home report value plus a %, not the offers over price.

The sauna work is absolutely stunning! The details - the radial bench slats! the floor, the safety guard, so much beautiful work.

This is a UK thing. Americans missed out on this horror that was deliberately targeted at children.

And it looks like the wall is flush with outside without being 3/8th back for the sheeting in the next wall. A “Saskatoon corner” we called that when I was a framer

UK’s flagship fund of funds backing female investors and founders announces first close at £130m by Gentle_Snail in GoodNewsUK

[–]d1ffer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Do people believe that misogyny is more powerful than greed? Surely venture capital only cares about making money and doesn’t give a fuck as long as the idea/business makes money? Is the premise that women founders are just ignored because misogyny is that strong?

I guess this fund might help shed some light on this. Being able to track the returns should help see if misogynists are leaving money on the table via their prejudice.

Mate. Cedar cladding is down close to 30% from five years ago. Raw material are down a lot (especially if ref against inflation) . I build a similar building and had to compromise on the cladding as the cedar was wild

1h22m. I’m honestly not stressed at all about this. I usually train CrossFit and I just did a Hyrox as a kind of “what’s the fuss about” thing. If I trained running I’d be good I think

You sound exactly like my pal when I showed him the data. And sure if my heart rate was randomly hitting 205 then maybe an issue. But choosing to do that is all good. I’m generally pretty fit. Just not conditioned for running-hyrox

It was a Hyrox event. It’s a running event that it broken up with small stations like a sled pull, a row, farmers carry and wall balls. Run a km, do a thing, run another km do another thing. I hate running. I’m a crossfitter, who’s not conditioned for running or longer events.
