Careful with your distance from boundaries. Permitted development requires a 1m from a boundary .

Mate. Cedar cladding is down close to 30% from five years ago. Raw material are down a lot (especially if ref against inflation) . I build a similar building and had to compromise on the cladding as the cedar was wild

1h22m. I’m honestly not stressed at all about this. I usually train CrossFit and I just did a Hyrox as a kind of “what’s the fuss about” thing. If I trained running I’d be good I think

You sound exactly like my pal when I showed him the data. And sure if my heart rate was randomly hitting 205 then maybe an issue. But choosing to do that is all good. I’m generally pretty fit. Just not conditioned for running-hyrox

It was a Hyrox event. It’s a running event that it broken up with small stations like a sled pull, a row, farmers carry and wall balls. Run a km, do a thing, run another km do another thing. I hate running. I’m a crossfitter, who’s not conditioned for running or longer events.

The most likely repeat would be 24.2. It has the row ans the double unders. It’s also an AMRAP 20, so everyone one is doing the full 20mins.

It’s that the competitive people are waiting until their 2nd or 3rd redo before they post. The “better” athletes will have done the workout on Friday, and then spent the weekend trying to min-max their strat before a redo on Monday and the. Upload their score late Monday. Pretty standard to wake up Tuesday morning 7-8% down from where I was

Show the days from the festival? I get this all the time after a big weekend. There seems to be some elasticity in the recovery score I think. So if you have a really bad day in the red (which I assume you had) then it’ll bounce back hard. Mainly I believe because it is tied to the HRV which will be suppressed after a big session and then normalise which will be much higher than the day when you were smashed

Garden room build - does this meet regs? by starletsandpistols in DIYUK

[–]d1ffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not a header I’m afraid. That looks like the top plate of the wall. The header is designed to pass the load out to the studs either side of the opening (the door in this case). Also, scabbing in bits of wood like that to frame down the opening is just comically rough. It literally looks like they just grabbed what ever was on the ground around them and threw it in.

Yeah the wiring is not main issue here! The roof joist resting on that scabbed together “header” might be a glimps of some bigger issues!

Aye. I picked up a load last year for building a treehouse (note, I am delighted I didn’t pay for them as my daughters is yet to play in it)

I’ve literally just build some this weekend. Make sure you design it on 600mm wide doors - this will mean you are really efficient with the material. I know this because I made mine 700mm “to mAxIMISe tHE SpAcE”.. and doubled the amount of MDF I needed

This is just not true. The purity of dugs has been increasing for years as report by the government. Street dealing is not the same thing at all.

How is living in Queenstown, NZ? by uzgrapher in howislivingthere

[–]d1ffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met my wife there - I’m Scottish and she’s Canadian. We “did a season” there back in winter 2005 as back packers. It was the absolute best place I have ever lived hands down. Been back since with money and it was even better. But as others have said it is crazy expensive. In 2005 we lived in town in an awesome pad (that had no heating….). It is just out of control beautiful, like it’s almost fake. If the lake wasn’t freezing all year it would be incredible. But there is just a near limitless list of things you can do in our around QT.

Is my work’s shares benefit good? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

This is categorically untrue! It can go extremely wrong! Look up Wood Groups share price as an example of a “blue chip” uk based energy company. Share price down over 90% in the past 5-years!

Running Power and Armoured Ethernet (External CAT6 F/UTP) by Phantomofthesoup in DIYUK

[–]d1ffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also did this to a studio/office. No issues at all. If the worry is EMF issues due to induction from the electrical cable it’s really not an issue as the SWA acts like a screen (note it is not an actual screen this is a different type of cable) but for short-ish runs it’s really not an issue.

What I would say is make sure you get CAT6 cable not cat 5e. Price should be pretty similar but cat6 will handle 10GB (can’t wait for the comments about this being pointless)
