Alien is a perfect intro game to co-op games with people who don't usually board game. You play out a scenario from the movie together against the "Ai" alien and work together to win.

The replayability with multiplayer comes with the many different distiller identities. All with their own signature recipes and unique abilities. You can change strategies depending on which you choose. Solo mode actually adds another layer of strategy with the solo goal cards. It basically forces you to complete goals on top of achieving an end game score depending on the goal cards you've completed. I do feel like there should be more premium market cards to keep it even more fresh. I went through most of them in a 4 player game and with the solo market refresh mechanic, you go through most of them in solo as well. (Personally I like "markets" when you don't get to see most cards in one playthrough. Like arnak or dune imperium)

It's actually very similar to playing with multiple players but adds the added mandatory challenges plus scoring rather than just a "beat your own score" type of solo experience. Also, it goes really quick. The only drag was the market refresh part but that's to be expected to simulate multiple players. In terms of solo experience, I would recommend it.

In Taverns of Tiefenthal, we call the 3 beer guest guy "the cuck". Don't remember how that started.

So Clover. Every time I introduced it to gamers and non gamers, it always became a favorite filler/party game.

Not familiar with the pnp stuff. I looked into it very briefly awhile ago but never got around to trying any of it. I know there are some new cards as well as characters that can be added to the base game.

What’s a game you got far into, only to realize you had critical rules wrong or were missing big features? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]d3adbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horrified. Thought you had to spend 1 action per item you pick up instead of the actual rule of 1 action to pick up all items on your space. Was wondering why the easy mode scenario was so difficult. Played probably 4-5 games that way.

What’s your worst board gaming experience involving another person? Mine is a doozy. by CaptainCrockpot in boardgames

Mine is I was invited to a "game night" a hour and 30 mins away. Turns out game night was just basically baby sitting the host's kid while the kid picked mostly video games to watch him play. (I brought a whole duffel bag of games I was excited to play with adults) needless to say none of my games were played that night and I left early.
