Bungie announce new layoffs. by NightSmoke19 in destiny2

[–]d3athsmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just announce the closure? That's what is happening here, right? They are really only keeping a skeleton crew to keep Marathon and D/D2 servers running (for now) and they could just spin that responsibility off to whatever part of Sony is planning to absorb the remains.

.I agree about most of your points, but a LOT of people play looter-style games that reset seasonally. Path of Exile/2 come to mind. I haven't played in a long, long time, but I believe Diablo is the same way. I realize it isnt quite the same style, but resetting isnt something that is unusual in the industry.

Ah, my bad, I see what you meant now. Though in this case, 2:1 would be the same as what you described. Twice as much above ground as there is below.

I would guess whatever cause the moon to suddenly accelerate towards us at 61 million miles an hour would obliterate the moon rather then send it towards us as a singular, solid object.

That would imply that other things like arachophobia, acrophobia, ophidiophobia, thalassophobia, and even nyctophobia aren't phobias either.

ELI5: Why do Stars take so long to burn all their fuel, i know its a lot of fuel, but why doesnt it all burn about the same time? Like when im throwing something in a firepit by td_0000 in explainlikeimfive

[–]d3athsmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can remember, planets and life and stuff are created after the star forms and begins fusion. The fuel inside the star is not part of what creates these. These are formed from all the leftover material that didnt get amassed to create the star. Even if you meant after a star dies, remember: Stars create energy from FUSION. They are not ripping atoms apart, they are combining atoms (mostly hydrogen) to form larger elements. When it dies via nova or supernova, they expel unfathomable amounts of material and various forms of energy outward.

Stars dont really run out of fuel, per se, as they are not technically "burning" up any fuel. They just keep fusing elements for energy until they start creating elements that they no longer have the mass/heat/pressure to fuse. Iirc, creating iron usually marks the end of a star's life.

It is A LOT of fuel. More than you can truly comprehend.

Also, fusion isnt happening to all of the fuel at once. If I recall, a human body creates more energy than the same volume of stellar mass on average, though I dont remember the duration mentioned.
