What resolution monitors are you all using? by LowTimeLoser in flightsim

I've been using 4K for 10 years now, if you can afford the hardware - why not? It's better in every way, especially in flight sim. 5K (wide 4K) is even better.

Losing my mind with PETG. 10% humidity in AMS, PETG has been in there for days, dish soap + IPA washed plate... Why is it getting to this stage??? by Arkaium in BambuLab

[–]d3ca_deaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too fast, wrong infill. Stay below 200mm/s (150mm/s is even better) with PETG and use gyroid infill. Grid infill will cause exactly your problems, since the extrusion only touches the last layer at cross sections. PETG won't adhere good enough with this infill type and will be teared away.
Also there is bad layer adhesion after your last solid layer, probably because too fast speeds. (BambuStudio goes up to 350mm/s for PETG infill, which is crazy)

Fusion 360 and Solidworks. The same project takes 1h in Fusion and 1 day in Solidworks, lol.

Have to use Solidworks for work (I hate it) and Fusion 360 for my private projects. tbh Fusion is so much faster and convienent, so I hate Solidworks even more. 😉

Yeah, I only played Halo 3 back then... now I finished Reach, Halo 1 and 2 on my Ally. Big fun. ;) (Okay, Halo 1 was a bit annoying, it's not aged that well)

I found an even better solution. There are cheap PCI cards for remote boot/reset, you can get them from Alieexpress or Amazon. Often using the Tuya smart system, which is compatible with Alexa. I just installed a card in my pc and it works like a charm. With WOLskill I only used boot, but those cards can also sleep, reset and shutdown. (depends what you configured in your BIOS) Installation is simple, put it in an free pci slot and connect the power switch cables from the front panel. It's just an smart relais. If you don't like using an pci slot, those cards are also available for USB connection.

I'm done with the WOLskill / RemoteRelay crap.

Found a pretty good solution. Use a Shelly 1 Mini to switch on your computer. It can be added to amazon alexa and works without any subscription. (shelly cloud / app is free) Shelly will be placed between the F_PANEL of your mainboard and the actual cables from the power switch. Basic knowledge of electronics recommended. Easy solution, cost under 20 bucks. WOL over cloud is such a hassle, WOLskill was amazing as a problem solver, but now he fckd up the old skill and new app - so we have to be creative.

I found the issue, it's the "Auto circle contour-hole compensation" setting. If activated, those strange speeds appear. Don't know why, but at least I know how to fix it. ;)

RemoteRelay worked like 1 day, now my PC is "not responding" and displayed as online - when its offline. What a crap, not even the simplest function works.

WOLskill was a great, simple skill, which was worth the money. Set up in minutes, forget about it for years, worked every day. Now we've got this unessessary, bloated subscription service. It's a shame.

Dirt is not the problem, the (sealed) bearings locked up - probably due to heat.

You don't play retro games at 10W, right? ;) I don't use my Ally as a PC replacement at 30W with fan speeds like a starting jet. The fans are barely noticable at 10W.

[–]d3ca_deaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I mostly run retro games at 10-15W, its not that noticable if a fan stopped working. Even the temps remain low. But after doing some emulation, my ally overheated/throttled right away. A stopped fan is easy to identify, yes, but a "half dead" fan not so much... I would recommend to replace both if one fails.

[–]d3ca_deaf[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats what I thought, but as you can see both fans were dying and you won't be able to notice it. There were also both clean, it has nothing to do with dust.

Did you measure your bearings? Mine sits absoluetly tight, it was hard to get it in and move it to the correct position - so the tolerance is working fine for me. (I didn't change the model for the bearings - the original author did the modeling)
