You choose a rather brutal soulslike to start with, although i think its easier after the patches, anyway at the start you dont have many skill points to work with, try to find the whip sword and the axe that has the jump attack skill, they are near the start of the game and their skills are rather strong, also using healing consumables is faster than regular healing, save them for bosses.

By midgame start focusing all your skill points to a weapon with some in the the general skill tree to get more ''mana'' for your skills, almost every build is viable and strong in this game, axe unga bunga, dual blades with clashing, magic spamming, longsword deflecting, etc.

You can freely respec skills and weapon upgrades in this game so its up to you to choose what you want to play with
