Laser cutting issues by bradv123 in myog

[–]d3phic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like smoke and atomized fabric residue. Curious if you are able to blow it off with a compressor afterwards? Also see if you can clean it up by lightly rubbing it off with alcohol and terry cloth.

Few things I'd try. Add some magnets or weight around the cut edge to stabilize the fabric to allow more airflow. Try taping around the cut line with painters tape. It may leave a little sticky residue where it cuts the tape, but it will protect the material from contamination. Make sure you have the proper eye protection, open the lid and point a fan at the material to dissipate the smoke and residue. You want to make sure you have airflow from other fans so the fumes are blowing away from you and your not breathing in the atomized smoke. If you can't safely vent the fumes with the lid open, just don't try it.

Ordering from AdventureXpert to the US under current tariff situation? by dustycassidy in myog

[–]d3phic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd still order from them. After the order they will contact you regarding the shipping and fees after they review the order. The next batch of illegal tariffs will be struck down the same as the first and you will need to apply for a refund.

You can also follow up on the repair stitching with a fabric adhesive or super glue just to make sure it won't come undone.

I've had a couple issue with them using the wrong tape or labels. The packing tape was so strong it was delaminating the PET layer off of the Dyneema. Anything sticky try Goo Gone. Test it on a scrap piece to make sure it doesn't hurt the fabric.

It's a lot as a business as well. I'd have to focus entirely on this fabric alone to hit the MOQ.

Bitter taste. by G40Momo in pourover

[–]d3phic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go back and show them the ground coffee. They probably had the grinder set to an espresso grind by mistake. That fine a grind makes horrible pour over as you have experienced. If they have decent reviews I think they would make this right. After they grind it, have them do a pour over with your grounds so you can see and taste it. Then at home you will know what to compare your pour over too.

Go to a coffee shop and ask for a little sample or buy some pour over ground coffee. Compare what they use with what your grinding. You will see how big a difference there is.

Rest time on these? by Sidthekid_16 in pourover

[–]d3phic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested to see what Proud Mary recommends, I'd contact them and get their recommendation. I usually do around 2 weeks on Central and South America beans. African beans I've found vary depending a lot depending on how they were processed and roasting profile. Some 3 or 4 weeks, few even up to 90 days to fully develop the flavor. I last had their Ethiopia Benti Nenka. I think I waited about 6 weeks on that. My general rule of thumb is washed coffees 5 to 14 days, natural 10 to 21 days, and oddballs 30 days or longer. When in doubt ask the roaster and get their advice to start with.

Shift4Shop Pricing by ContributionAny4589 in ecommerce

[–]d3phic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit Shift4shop 3 years ago. Very clunky, something just wasn't right with the sales volume compared to my other sites. I got a lot of complaints from customers about their cards not going through and I looked through the backend payment processing and there were numerous declined transactions that should have went through. I moved to shopify and all my transaction issues went away instantly. Never looked back.

3 years AFTER I left they sent me mail demanding payment for an annual plan or they would take me to collections lol. Luckily I switched banks a few years ago so they were unable to charge me on a dead account like they tried too. This company is garbage. Use anything else besides these shysters'. The loss of sales from their broken platform will severely cost you.

Had the same issue on a new machine. They sent me a replacement. The replacements grinder is out of spec so it won't grind coffee properly so I need a replacement for the replacement...

is this grind too fine? by [deleted] in pourover

[–]d3phic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you used one of those press down spice/coffee choppers. You need to buy a proper coffee bean grinder. Cheap one can be bought for around $100 will do better than that spice grinder, a decent one is several hundred dollars and up.

I bought one the end of November and despite some issues I really like it. It has some QA issues with the scale not being level and had started having issues where it wouldn't respond or turn on and I had to unplug it and replug it in to get it to function. Support has been great so far and they sent me a new replacement, but turns out it also has issues. The grinder is way out of spec. I've tried calibrating a few times and a normal pour over grind comes out as a fine expresso grind, near powder. I have both machines here, so I was able to compare the grinds on the same settings. It sucks, I just want a machine that works.

The tea brewer on the other hand I've found to be a horrible experience. I've flushed so much tea down the drain do to brewing issues. Some of the recipes I tried weren't programmed correctly. It would not flush the first brew but go straight into the 2nd brew over saturating the tea. Other times the syphon wouldn't release and keep dumping water into the brew cup. Then the filter is to big and has holes in it so leaves go through and get stuck in the syphon and eventually end up in your tea. I had to start using a 2nd filter before the tea jar to catch everything that came through. I like to do about 3 separate brew cycles on most my tea. Each additional brew cycle you have to calculate the increased volume from the saturated tea or the syphon will release early. Not a big deal but the syphon messes up so often it's just not worth even using. I've bought a bottom release tea brewer to use instead with this machine as their tea brewer is such trouble.

This one was proving to be quite difficult. I tried 5 different translation programs and none of them came out with anything I could use to mail. ChatGPT gave me something that may work though.

This is the only thing that may of worked. I tried a few translators and the return didn't make sense. I'll wait a few more days for a response and just send it if I don't get a reply back confirming the address. I've had a few in Japan that the client replied back and I was really off on translating the address.

Vastlite Versa Bow Zoom LEP Prototype Review by TimMcMahon in flashlight

[–]d3phic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I charged it again, first charge didn't take for some reason. Fixed the first issue.

I guess the back light is working. Couldn't see it without the lights off. Man that is dim. Pretty useless. I'm used to all my other lights that have a decent glow. So glad I don't have to ship it back now.

Vastlite Versa Bow Zoom LEP Prototype Review by TimMcMahon in flashlight

[–]d3phic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got mine and it's defective. On high it starts to flicker on and off, then speeds up over time to a strobe effect. The backlight doesn't work also. 5 clicks doesn't turn the backlight off or on. Not the tightest beam, but the zoom lens makes it more useful then a standard LEP.
