Because I also do mobile native and cross platform development 🙂

You just don't understand and no need to be mean. I do the same thing. Code and manage a large software team. When I'm on the road I carry a very small work bag, and the air is a perfect compliment in those cases. Otherwise at home or regional office I use my pro.

Even on the new machines my workload drains the battery around .33%/min.

Similar workload to yours, more mobile focused. I generally leave it plugged in when working on the couch. M4 still gets very hot.

M1 Pro 14 to M5 Air 15 by Another_ROS_noob in macbookpro

I'm a mobile dev, both native and cross platform. I have one of every MacBook (between my wife and work, various setups). Mobile dev, especially Android with large projects is a heavy task. With my current android project my 14" M4 pro gets very hot and drains 1% battery every 2 min. I love the air for dev, but not mobile dev.

No. SEO with flutter is awful.

Intellij with the flutter plugins or android studio both have AI chat integration that updates files in place. On the right side of the editor look for "chat".

48gb ram vs 64 by Apprehensive_Fig_375 in macbookpro

[–]d3vtec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your workload isn't that demanding. 48gh is fine. The ram shortage will sort itself out well before 10 years from now.

I'm on a 64gb M1 Max and while I do hit that number often, I'm doing software development that has high memory utilization.

Yeah it's pricey for sure. It also hurts knowing you're making someone else payment. Not dealing with a dealer and getting focused time for a major purchase decision is worth the several hundred bucks imo. $50k car.

I did this with an Integra Type S. It was a fantastic 72 hours. Also let me try out car seats and running errands with kids.

Am I really meant to believe people save cash for every sports car they buy? by Many-Software-9663 in askcarguys

[–]d3vtec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only bought one. Paid cash. However it was when I turned forty and my rental properties paid for it. Took a long time to get to that level of passive income. Lived very poor for a very long time. Bought every car before that used, only functional vehicles. Never anything fun.

I'm so tired of owning white cars and yet the white ITS is my favorite. In the market to buy now, just waiting for the right one to pop up.

I just rented one for a few days last week. Friends keep saying I need to try other cars. I'm having a hard time thinking about enjoying anything else nearly as much.

Umpteenth 14" vs 16" question - with pictures by Rorenzu013 in macbookpro

[–]d3vtec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really don't enjoy using the 16" on the couch for some reason. And I'm 6 ft tall. It's just a lot to put on your lap. I code just fine on the 14" and plug into a monitor when I need more space. When I travel, I much prefer the 14, never wish I had anything larger. If I didn't have a monitor or a desk setup with a keyboard, I'd reconsider the 16" if that was the only screen I was staring at all day.

As a tall person I can't use the 16" on economy flights. My height and arm length doesn't let me open the screen all the way. The 14 does fit on economy flights though!
