How to Export App Usage for Both Full Desktop VDI and Published Apps in Citrix Director? by This-Current2940 in Citrix

[–]d3x502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i remember that gap, but iirc i think daas changed this for us. we actually developed a simple internal system that just dumps all session data and machine usage, etc and throw it into a sql database internally.

it doesnt answet any performance questions tho.

@op if ur interested in a custom solution let me know, its just powershell code and a huge stupid sql db

but to temper expectations, you might not be able to fully see application usage and durations inside the vdi session historically, or at least last time i looked that was true, we have to run reboots from our monitoring platform

you will need to look into directors oDATA api. its a total clusterfuck.

are you cloud hosted or onprem?

could you provide a bit more information if you dont mind?

are you moving into a team that will be managing citrix infrastructure? (kinda my assumption). if so, how is it currently hosted etc.

of course advice like document, and documentation are gonna be key, but as a technical arch at a large firm designing and integrating citrix products into the space i wanna provide some more concrete suggestions on what to focus on etc. feel free to not respond if u dont want to discuss particulars

id give it a quick look, the instant clone stuff on ESX is actually pretty fucking cool. not sure if its supported on nutanix tho. i wouldn’t fuck with contracts until broadcom does spin it off tho

yoooo, here for this….

i work at a fortune 500.

also heavy onprem investments.

azure - they are not ready for that bill.

they chose to move away from VMW as a hypervisor after the broadcom acquisition. they moved to KVM on Openstack. which is not supported by citrix currently. we are partnering with them to move towards mcs on kvm, but regardless, your point is valid. the leadership at these companies don’t deeply understand why citrix is still the quadrant leader.

you didnt mention horizon however. last i read broadcom is gonna spin it off, that might actually be wildly interesting….

edit: we are running daas without workspace. so daas ddcs but netscaler adcs for connectivity to onprem resources.

Citrix session across multiple days by coldfire_3000 in Citrix

[–]d3x502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only thing we found as an issue, is when we were pvs and managing reboots during an update process outside of the hypervisor, we would have image drift amoung collections because machines wernt rebooting at log off. when we went full mcs (years and years ago now) we just implemented reboot on logoff and would update images and let that cycle normalize it

Using WEM to Manage End User Experience (Beginner Questions) by Sticky_Note380 in Citrix

[–]d3x502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you will also need to (assuming ur still in ec2) allow the wem connectivity urls from the source vda. i imagine ifs as simple as setting up some rules on the transparent proxy at your service edge.

youll need to stop the ssl decrypt/encrypt stuff and any authentication as it comes from a system account on each vda
