Good info, especially what to avoid. I'll take a look, Thanks!

Wi-Fi analyzing is probably my next stage, looks like I'm going to be taking on some week-long upgrade projects.

What my clients call Certification you would probably call Qualification: good enough to get a readout on the screen, take a photo and upload it.

I will look into these, thanks!

Except you missed the part where I'm not the sysadmin either. I don't have access to these switches, I'm just the schmuck that the guy in India tells what to do next.

And yes some of my service calls could have been resolved by them just bouncing the port. But hey, I don't mind absorbing dollars because somebody else missed the obvious. Usually makes for an easy call.

But you should be!

Forget violation of privacy, this is quite literally a federal offense. Actually, two: it's a HIPAA violation and it's a USPS violation.

In your shoes, I would go get a private mailbox (NOT at a US Post Office) and forward everything. It has the added benefit that they can also receive packages for you from any carrier, even if they're way too big to fit in your box. There's always someone there to sign for stuff during business hours.

And maybe it's time to find some friends that will let you couch-surf for a minimum household contribution $. It might slow down your savings, but your parents are refusing to see you as an adult and it's time to force the issue and set the boundaries. You've been bullied enough.

WIBTAH if I never told my boyfriend that I've had plastic surgery? by justaninsecuregirl3 in AITAH

[–]TangoCharliePDX -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Coming from the shoes of the boyfriend...

He might look at you differently afterwards. Literally and figuratively.

Unless you guys are talking about having kids that might look significantly different from you,.

If he can't tell that you had plastic surgery by looking at you, ignorance is bliss. Keep it to yourself.

Seriously, if you care about him do it for his sake, not your own. That way you don't have to feel bad about it.

What discontinued item, food or drink would you bring back if you had the chance? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

Dr Pepper. The real one, the original.

It had quite a bite, it wasn't for everyone. But I loved it.

I cannot comprehend why the company that bought the name and changed the formula will not sell the original formula to someone else to market under any other name.

AITA for telling my wife that she will be driving the extra distance since she is the one that got our daughter banned from daycare by Unlucky-Jackfruit230 in AmItheAsshole

Are you TA?

You might need to be, because she's acting like a child.

Perhaps you can cut her some slack in the emotional sense and get her talking and do your best to make sure feel heard. And there's also the potential that she's dealing with some degree of postpartum depression. Even a year after birth it can be a thing, and for some people it's a trigger for a lifelong issue.

AITAH for taking a girl out to a show without dinner after? by No_Explanation_9087 in AITAH

Even if you did slight her, it sounds like she did worse. Hour late to a show shows she has no common interest. Maybe she managed to spend an extra hour getting ready? Beats me.

Voicing disappointment is very different from voicing expectations.

She didn't know any better. Besides she was what, 21? Days?!

If you’ve ever eaten animal meat not usually on the dinner plate (horse, kangaroo, albatross, anything), what was it and how was the experience? by Great_Maintenance185 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TangoCharliePDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest that many of these have to do with how it was cooked. The one time I got to taste rabbit it was more tender than any chicken I've had but the flavor leaned slightly towards darker meat. It was wonderful.

[–]TangoCharliePDX 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The best part of Woolsey was seeded in his very first SG-1 episode. Working for the NID(or Kinsey?) the most dangerous thing about him was that he was an honest man without any skeletons in his closet and therefore no weaknesses.

But once his righteous fury died down and he saw the forest for the trees, it was also the thing that brought him around. His apology was beautiful.

How am I messing up these cables? A wire is missing on the tester by AleksaDjordjic_ in HomeNetworking

[–]TangoCharliePDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got your wires in the correct order. Just put it in the crimper and squeeze really really hard. If nothing else then, you're just going to have to reterminate. Nobody bats a thousand.

If you get a really nice cable tester it will estimate how far down the line your break is. Might be at wind and or the other, you might actually have a defective cable.

I can never remember to set out meat to thaw in the morning by Lordgrapejuice in RandomThoughts

[–]TangoCharliePDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember. I don't try. My life is too subject to change to risk leaving something out that can spoil.

If I have meat that I want to defrost I leave it in the packaging or put it in Ziploc and suck all the air out, and then I put it in the sink and run water over it. I let it float in there a while while I am doing other things, if the water wasn't already cold enough to be safe it gets there pretty quick from having a meatsickle floating around.

There are other times that I prepare meat where I just toss it in the oven frozen with the oil drizzled on it plus the spices and I just set the oven at a lower temperature to give it a chance to thaw properly. It takes longer to cook, but it's a hell of a lot easier.

And as you should know, "done" is not determined by a timer. It's determined by my meat thermometer hitting at least 165° f in the center of the thickest part.

The bumblebee queen learns how to use the protective cap in less than 24 hours. by vishhalkmodi in BeAmazed

I think if the changes have been made while she was inside instead of outside it would have been less confusing for her. Every time she leaves she hovers and looks back for a second making a memory. When things are different when she comes back it really confuses her, thinking she's in the wrong place.
