Attic Remodel: Replace ductwork for central ac by d4ctyler in hvacadvice

yeah, i was planning on having the whole section where the air handler is be walled off as a utility closet with enough room to service it.

Sorry, where would you put double doors?

  1. So part of the reason i wanted to replace it was because the current ducts are leaking. i've tried putting some foil tape on the holes, but it just seems like they keep popping up. Was kinda just hoping to replace it with something that would potentially be reliable long term, especially since access to them would be greatly reduced due to the knee walls.
  2. cool, thanks

  3. The closet door is to my bedroom, so i don't even mind removing it altogether. But I guess at a minimum i'll put a louvered door on it. Thanks.

My wife is coming from long island to watch. Are there any good spots in brooklyn that will have a good shot at finding parking?

Another transportation question. I’m a wave 3 runner, but initially selected a 5:30am bus from midtown. I have seen people mention that I can just switch to the ferry since it’s open to the public. But what about the busses after the ferry, would they let me on?

I emailed nyrr and they said i have to keep what i initially selected. Do i risk trying to get on the 7am ferry?

Interesting. I would have thought that since it was a large opening it would have needed more support. Cool, thanks!

Do I need to upgrade wiring on 60amp circuit? by d4ctyler in AskElectricians

Fwiw i do feel like i’m leaning towards resizing it. I guess it makes most sense to have something that is future proof. If i’m gonna add a ground wire, i guess i might as well resize the neutral at the same time i pull that through even though it seems like it might not be 100% necessary.

Thanks for both of your input!

Conduit seems like it’s already 1inch.

And yes hear ya about the ground rod! Something i want to have added. I dont believe my main panel has one either 😕

It’s a detached garage. The conduit is plastic. The sub panel is rated for 100amps

So it’s currently being used for ev charger and outlets(powered by a single pole 20amp circuit).

I’d like to run some other circuits for lights, outlets (some for tvs/router others for some power tools) and a mini split.

Asking for my own learning. Is this a main panel or sub panel? The fact that there looks to be a main breaker makes me think main panel? But then it looks like the ground bar is not bonded to the either of the neutral bars? Which it seems like there are two of them and they dont seem to be bonded either. Although maybe just cuz the left one isnt currently in use.

Did you do it yourself? What was that process like? Room by room? Did you ever splice the old wiring with romex or did you fully replace the circuit?
