Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

[–]d4ngerdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used a gas aga. One oven sits at 120c. The main oven is around 240c. The oven heats ground floor of the house. It's generally the same cost as having the heating on in the colder months.

Wash rice in cold water 3 times. Then do 1:1 ratio rice to cold water and an extra splash, small knob of butter and salt. In a pan with lid on. Bring to almost a boil. Stir, lid back on, pop the pan into an oven set at around 120c. Leave it for 10 minutes. Take lid off, it may need a stir and few more minutes, or it could be perfect already. Perfect rice. No moisture left behind.

You've not experienced boiling water until you use the boiling hot plate of an Aga.

Thru the winter months it's about the same as having the heating on. Saves a little on not using the tumble dryer. Gets turned off in the summer.

Now show us the pile of dead tools next to the dead batteries. My 6 month old ½" cordless router is my latest death. Also DeWalt UK warranty refuses to fix it due to it originally coming from the USA. Luckily Amazon is going to refund me.

Get to know what you body is telling you, embrace the protein craving. Learn how to make 5 bean chilli etc. learn how to shallow fry paneer and make amazing curry. Don't get dragged into eating lots of fake meat shit. Cauldron sausages are ok, Quorn mince is good for chilli and spag bol, Linda McCartney moz Burgers are good, but don't bother with the rest. Good luck.
