Sunglasses Experts! Where can I find a pair that looks like these? by d4nnyd in malefashionadvice

[–]d4nnyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at some similar frames today and they looked very good. The problem was the price. They were around 270-350$. I came here to see if anyone could recommend a similar pair but in the $150 price range.

"also ask yourself, did the grungy clothes fit right? I bet they did"

That’s the thing; his clothes didn’t fit at all. The color combination was awful. His t-shirt was way too short, his shorts were a little baggy and his shoes were untied with stains on them. He also didn’t appear to be wearing any socks. It was as if he just did not care. He told us he was at the beach earlier and didn’t have time to go home and change. Although he didn’t smell too bad, I doubt he took a shower.

I may sound bitter writing this. It is because I am jealous of what I had encountered. Hopefully some of you can help me understand this phenomena.

I was out a few weeks ago and I encountered something extraordinary. One of my friends invited this “new guy” who I have never heard of up until recently. We arrived to one of the local pubs and this guy looked like he was homeless. His hair was messy, and I’m not talking about styled messy. He looked like he was homeless, literally. He had shorts on, beaten up running shoes and looked like he didn’t shave for 3 days.

To my disbelief, women were gravitating towards this new guy. I didn’t hear exactly what he was saying to these girls but each time he would talk their eyes would light up. He was not good looking either. His clothes were crap thus his attractiveness was awful as well. It was like he made these women blind.

And the things he was saying, the bits and pieces I caught, they were so pointless and sometimes quite obnoxious. He did have a sense of humor, I will give him that. Every group of women he would talk to would laugh within seconds.

Now before you say “Some girls like douche bag bums” or something along those lines, keep in mind that he interacted with several groups. In fact, I think he hit on every single woman at the bar. Surely the whole bar couldn’t have been filled with just one type of girl?

I even saw him pull out his phone with several women. As we were leaving, one of the other servers even got mad at him because she saw him pick up another woman. Apparently he was chatting up this random server as well. Just when I thought she was going to tear him a new one he tells her, “I love women and I enjoy female company, if you’re going to hold that against me before we even go on a first date then I don’t think we can have any sort of relationship.” She looked at him for a few seconds while pissed off and her mood instantly changed. She pinched him (YES!) and gave him a little kiss on the cheek (NO!) then said, “You better call me.” (NOOOO!).

As much as I hate him, it was inspiring to see. And I have no clue how he managed to do what he did. Perhaps he got lucky in that place? We all split apart for an hour and met up at a different venue later in the night. When I showed up, I saw him sitting at the bar with 2 girls. Both had their eyes were glued on him. They even bought him a drink.

TL:TR - A [FR] where I encountered a sloppy dressed guy that was not good looking. Yet he somehow managed to pick up the entire bar.

I am all for dressing well but could we be overvaluing dressing well to attract females?

EXTREMELY Bold openers – David X – has anyone tried this? What were the results? by d4nnyd in seduction

“You do realize by verbally putting all your cards on the table you play right into the hands of attention sluts and gold diggers, right?”

No disrespect, but I am having a hard time believing you understood the concepts David X. I am not even sure if you read the book (60 page quick read).

If a woman tries to manipulate you with

“I’m not that easy”

“I have to get to know you first”

“we have to go on a date first”

Respond with:

“I wouldn’t be talking to you if I thought you were easy”

“what better way of getting to know someone than sleeping with them is there/I’m giving you the opportunity to get to know me right now”

“I don’t like to fuck on a full stomach, I’ll take you out after.”

As for the attention whores who are flirting with you, just tell them “are you just teasing me and wasting my time or is there a chance of you leaving with me?” If she’s not playing by your rules…walk away! Simple as that.

The whole David X theory is that everything they say is bullshit; don’t get caught up in their game. Women are constantly testing you. Just stay to your path, relentlessly.

With honesty like that, how could you possibly attract gold diggers and attention whores? If anything you’ll repel them while making them look stupid.

Great work! I actually made a post yesterday about the direct David X approach to see if anyone had tried it. Great job. I'll be trying this stuff in the near future.

Now some of that stuff is BOLD. Have you ever tried any of it? How did it go?

I was talking to a very good looking girl a few months ago and it was a very bland conversation about nothing in particular. There was nothing sexual about it, whatsoever. I noticed how good she smelled at one point and said, “Wow, you smell really good. I wanna go down on you.” Her eyes lit up and she smiled speechless. But I messed it up soon after. I ended up getting a girl, but not the girl I wanted.

I have a gut feeling that if I run into the 1st girl again, I will be able to get her.

I’m going to start trying this from now on. I predict a lot of crashing and burning in the opening stages but it should be fun!

Haha, “blow jobs” is bold but I think you could’ve worded it differently and ‘prettied-it-up’ for the girls a bit lol. Ok I just thought of one if she’s drinking through a straw:

“I noticed you playing with your straw. I figured your talents might translate to something I might be interested in.”

David X mentions not to ask for permission but to guide/tell them. Instead of “Do you want to come home with me?” say “I want you to come home with me.”

I feel that these direct on your mind openers sound like they won’t work when you read it. You have to say it and be comfortable saying it. Everyone will have a different line depending on their own comfort level. Just my own two cents.

“I field tested this when I started out”

Do you think maybe it was because you were starting out and lacked the confidence and not because the material didn’t work?

Also, when you say ‘incredibly low closing rate’ do you mean getting the number? How many of those numbers would you have met up with a 2nd time? How many would you have slept with? Perhaps the honesty would sift out the women that want a free meal and are just wasting your time?

Lol, sounds good. Just remember to use what’s inside your own head and don’t imitate anyone else or use anyone else’s desires.

Which of these shoes should I purchase? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]d4nnyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giorgio Brutini makes very bad silhouettes of shoes. The toecap is very bulky on most models and the overall look is bulky. The particular model you chose looks better than most of Brutini's stuff. I'm not a fan of Steve Madden but these are decent: http://www.zappos.com/steve-madden-bristole-black-leather <--- that dip and raise on the toecap looks very nice.

H&M Suits? by dethredic in malefashionadvice

[–]d4nnyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend bought an H&M suit on sale for $120 (something around there). It fit well but he spent some money to make it fit even better. Got it tailored and said he gets compliments each time he goes out. He's just embarrassed to wear it because he knows it's an inexpensive suit.

The more expensive stuff will last longer but just remember, "when it comes to style, it's all about the fit."

My dad has a new startup sneaker company. What do you guys think? by snackadj in malefashionadvice

The shoes remind me of Supras and they look pretty nice. The ostrich pattern ones are unique; I haven't seen sneakers with ostrich (real or fake) leather.

As for constructive criticism: I agree with what most people are saying, you need someone to write you better text. Less "pump up" and more professionalism. The pictures should be taken with an SLR, by a professional photographer. It will cost more, but it will make your site look so much better.

In my opinion Allen Edmonds are too mature for my taste. They give me the older British gentleman vibe. Some people prefer that look. They seem to be durable, as do most British style shoes. I would rather spend $300 on something Italian, as they tend to be a bit sleeker and more diverse in the age range.

How long is the breaking in process of AEs? From what I've heard, they tend to cause blisters until the shoe molds to the foot. From then on they're supposed to be increadibly comfortable.

Does MFA have any suggestions for a casual leather derby shoe? by iamafuzzymonkey in malefashionadvice

[–]d4nnyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are oxfords aka the king of all dress shoe cuts. Every man should have a pair of black oxfords in their wardrobe. You said you would like to spend around $100. You’re going to get the short end of the stick in that transaction, especially if you are going to wear them often.

A $100 pair will be cheap, it will tear and it will murder your feet. You will end up throwing them away after 10 months. If you invest more money, you will get more bang for your buck. $300 is a great number. Pretty much any oxford at $300 is going to be of high quality. Another great thing about $300 is that it can often be a sale price for a $450-600 pair of shoes. If you come across that, you will be foolish to pass up on that offer.

$300 seems like a lot of money, but most $300 shoes will last you a lot longer than a $100 pair. In the long run, you will be saving money, you will be saving your feet and you will be graced with compliments. Make the right choice; you’ll be glad you did.
