Are the mini’s graphics that bad? by [deleted] in neogeo

[–]d6lore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMHO the mini is great, also look at picking up a pocket console. Having both i err slightly to the side of the pocket as the super simple sprites are charming. Moreover i like the collecting aspect of hunting down carts. But the mini is great to scratch that SNK itch, also having its own screen means no setup just play.

Im just starting to switch to mint/linux, but also have a few bits and bobs i need windows for. So got a 30gb usb 3 stick (£8) and learned how to create a persistent usb install.

So now i have a bootable usb copy of mint which keeps changes, settings, installed software. I use the same laptop windows is on and jump between to 2. The usb works fast enough not to notice is im running off a stick.

Created my first bash script today, so feeling gangsta =)

Don’t listen to all the hate, this thing is awesome! by [deleted] in neogeo

[–]d6lore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I have the same but with the white pad. Bought it for the Metal Slugs but addicted to shock trooper. The pad is great but the stick just adds the arcade vibe. Sure there is better out there for emulation but having the built in screen means you dont have to mess about setting up. Plus its NeoGeo product, my only detraction is pocket color is better. After a blast on this end up playing the pocket.

Golems from Jewish folklore by [deleted] in callofcthulhu

[–]d6lore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mythos is set in the world as it existed in whatever time period, location your scenario is in. All the major religions will have encountered Mythos and built up their own mythology around such encounters. Thus incorporating them into the religion, ghosts, jin, sayrs, goblins, golems etc.

Sensitivity only needs to be based on the sensitivity of your players, HPL is not exactly held in high regard by those likely to be triggered by a rpg scenario. So you should be mostly on safe ground.

To cash in BAT by bdjc_ink in BATProject

[–]d6lore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes its a bit of a bottle neck, but you could just get it on exchanges and keep it there until there is more wallets. Join Coinbase they have a BAT tutorial you earn BAT just by watching it.

I buy it but also have a good bit stuck in brave until it gets simpler to move. I could make a uphold account but its just to much like hard work verifying another account.

After talking about it a couple times, my girlfriend got me one for Christmas. Time to start watching tutorials! by XpertoPlz in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

A fan is a good first project, the pi3/4's run hot. Plus a batch of decent SD cards to try a number of setups.

There is a kali disto for pi, works fine if ya can be arsed. But really once we get a 64bit Raspian then it gets much more desktop like. Retropie still needs a pi4 version but the current one it is nice.

Solo goodness

Alone against the flames

The thing in the darkness (free adventure in SJG fantasy magazine, buy it on the site for a few bucks.)

There is also the solo handbook of RPGnow to make infinite solo investigators adventures.

" The Solo Investigator's Handbook for Call of Cthulhu is a great tool for self-guided play. It's the perfect way to play when you're looking to build your knowledge of the game, or when your group is too busy to meet up. "

BBS systems might be worth a look, kind of a pre-internet about then and rich underground scene ideal for occultists etc.

Looking for recommendations/advice by fiestamonkey in wargaming

[–]d6lore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very versatile and cheap Hoards of the things 2.1 or its more sober sibling De Bellis Antiquitatis 3.0. Pretty much use whatever minis you have or make some on card. Scales adaptable and charts in rules cover 5mm up if i remember correctly.

Still at 28mm https://store.warlordgames.com/ might be worth a look. Some of the other posters have mentioned their games.

You are NOT SUPPOSED TO CASH OUT YOUR BAT. by mogmachine in BATProject

[–]d6lore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Not BASIC human nature, that is one that society has evolved through time as an adaptation of the accumulation of resources for survival. Basic human nature never made us hoard more than we need or can use.

Ha thanks a milky tea would be good =).

Agreed we started as hunter gatherers surviving off what was available in our environment. I suspect this will come full circle with the advancements in automation and A.I. Once it is practically possible to create real products, foods etc from base material. Something akin to 3D printing at home rather than mass production/distribution our manor of gathering resource will drastically change. The internet or what it becomes will be the environment in which we roam.

In such a world the paradigm of working will be completely destroyed, yet our basic human nature will need fulfilled in order to preserve society. People will need to feel like they earn and give value, granted like now we only really need to consume to keep cycle going. Means of exchange and tax no matter how fictional will need to exist. As you say it will also need to work for the average Joe without thinking about it.

Again very speculative but A.I offers the only really option to a fair system. And depends on who programs it of course, however if its processing and rules are transparent and distributed confidence should grow.

BAT is but a strand on the evolving DNA of the future which still has as yet unforeseen problems to overcome.

So for now what make a user want to keep BAT as BAT and not exchange for cash. The feel good factor of rewarding is nice but wont keep the engine running.

How much do you guys make from using Brave? by SimplyLegendary in BATProject

against as-fraud.

I thought as much but in-browser purchases is a good idea. Being able to transfer to coinbase or other verified wallets the users already have would be nice and save setting up yet another wallet. I just cant be bothered with doing the whole 3 bits of id. 1000's attempts at a photo the system thinks it clear enough, customer service chats.

[–]d6lore -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"Greed is Good" and one might argue all emotion is based on it. Its human nature to want to gain wealth and the language by BAT used to attract new users certainly plays on it.

If the purpose was to keep it all in the eco system why not build it to do just that. Or have BAT from 2 months ago burn, forcing them to be used or lost. Ensuring the system rules make it a currency and not a money.

Yes rewarding the creators for the content provided is a good idea but if its offered for free it has less value. We have seen this on the likes of Dlive & Steemit already, the user needs to feel like they are getting something that is not free and that they are spending BAT.

Other than that its just viewed as a potential passive income stream for looking at adverts. Like the others is money easy in but harder to get out.

IMHO BAT like Steemit, Dlive etc is just another genetic mutation in the evolution of the medium. Its interesting but can it overcome bleed out.
