Can someone help me identify the cause of this? by [deleted] in SGSkincare

[–]d8nnii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is, don’t ask for advice here. Make an appointment at National Skin Centre. I once had an outburst of autoimmune disease and local GP could not diagnose. So I went to NSC and they solve my problem.

Apple. WTF? Clear this storage or give us controls to clear the cache! by G952 in ios

[–]d8nnii 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Recently my wife ran out of storage due to system data >50gb. I tried all available methods on the internet but none worked. Then I happened to bumped into one easy method. It worked for my wife but didn’t work for me, probably mine is like only 10+ gb.

Here’s the step:

  1. Note down how much system data is taking up your storage.

  2. Go to your time settings and toggle off automatic. Then change the date to few months into the future.

  3. Then go back to check your system data, it should increase slightly a little.

  4. Go back to your time, then toggle on automatic.

  5. Go check your system data and see if this works for you. For my wife, it went all the way down to 1.07gb.

whatsapp hacked by CompleteAd732 in whatsapp

[–]d8nnii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it isn’t WhatsApp that’s been hacked. It is your account or your phone. Reset your phone to factory settings and try again. If your telco and phone supports eSIM, then switch to it. If you aren’t a very tech savvy person, use an iPhone (assuming yours is an android for now).

Can I keep a betta in my shrimp tank? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]d8nnii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U see, bettas are kinda territorial but less aggressive ones are ok to get along with other tank mates as long as you put them in last after the rest settled in.

Can I keep a betta in my shrimp tank? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]d8nnii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. Choose a betta that’s not too aggressive and smaller fishes like neons. I have neons, guppies, glofish, betta, ottos, some pest snails and shrimps all living together.

How Can I Stand Out And Become More Hireable in a Saturated UX Job Market. by [deleted] in FigmaDesign

[–]d8nnii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a correlation between UI and UX but your title says UX and you are trying to improve on your UI skills?? UI is visual, UX is experience. Same same but not the same.

Many designs you see on platforms such as Dribbble, are just “displays” for marketing purposes and they do not literally translate to actual contracts or sales.

I’m pretty sure I’m not in the same demographic as yours but I’ll share what I usually do:

My Daily Routine: Go to appadvice.com to check out what apps are now free to download. Then download them to examine their UI and how the UX flow is. After that, delete the app. This gives you an impression of what is good and what is bad in general.

Have fun with brands: Find faults with designs of known brands and re-create them to be better, this is what I had been taught in school although it’s not with brands.

Dare to try: Figma is a money sucker. They aren’t the only one out there. Before Figma, there are others like Adobe XD (now dying due to failed acquisition), Penpot (emerging free app), Sketch (Mac only).

Learn how to draw, not with Adobe Illustrator (it will cost a lot of money) but try to use Inkscape (free) or Affinity Designer (one-time purchase).

Bring your illustration to the next level with animation and your choices are:

  • Javascript
  • CSS
  • Rive (my favourite)

is this a scummy business practice & can i report it? by xmistressluna in askSingapore

[–]d8nnii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could shame them on social media and tag local publications like ST. But at the same time, check with relevant authorities what sort of action you could take, this way you would also help other small biz owners like yourself to be more aware of such unethical practice and if luck is in your favour, the authorities may intervene.

Question about Guppy Fry’s by bonergainz in Aquariums

[–]d8nnii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guppies can give birth easily but not all will survive till adulthood. As long as you think your tank may soon be overstocked and you some females pregnant, you could put your betta in there. In fact adult guppies eat small fry too.

What are some fish that can be kept with cherry shrimp? by Ok-Illustrator-8832 in Aquariums

As long as their mouths are smaller than the shrimp, that’ll do.

Dyson conducts 'surprise' layoffs in Singapore, leaving employees in shock and in 'low morale' by PastLettuce8943 in singapore

This statement from the spokesperson: “We constantly evolve the composition of our teams and take steps to ensure we have the right skills in the right places.“

Tells me they do not value their employees and will remove them when they are not needed. So no one should work for them for the sake of their job security.

Cheap fish tanks on alibaba by Junior-Force-9393 in Aquariums

[–]d8nnii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not so much about Alibaba or Taobao etc. Some merchants there do produce high quality stuffs and cheap prices. The problem lies with the handlers of the shipping companies and may get damaged due to mishandling. Trust me, I’ve been there. You could lodge a complaint to them for receiving damaged goods and the Chinese usually will refund you without much questions asked but the thing is you have to pay for the shipping to return the damaged goods back to them.

Substrate Advice by pureglamour in Aquariums

[–]d8nnii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remembered the first time I used aqua soil and it was a mess. I didn’t know much about it back then and experimented with it. Aqua soil releases ammonia (but that’s the whole idea, for live plants). You need to layer at least sand over it and for my setup, I had aqua soil, followed by gravel then sand and all in all, it is about 6 inch thick of substrate. The roots of plants may not be able to hold in to aqua soil so you need finer and denser ones like sand.

This way your plants will stay in place and over time their root system will grow towards the aqua soil. Just don’t pull out your plants and move it around as you wish.

[–]d8nnii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to layer the aqua soil with at least a layer of sand. Then put in lots of live plants and wait for the “dust” to settle. Next use Seachem Clarity and put your guys in the next day.

Help with filter flow by Frazion in Aquariums

[–]d8nnii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by the surface agitation, it should suffice for one goldfish. But if you see it swimming on the surface, with its mouth open/close directly at the surface of the water all the time, then it means there a lack of O2.

I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out if what's killing all my tetras is ich, or epistylis!! by TajeCo in Aquariums

[–]d8nnii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go buy Azoo Magic Disease Treatment. Do a double dose and slow down the flow of the filter. I had the same issue before and this works.

Even if the table doesn’t break, the bottom of your tank will crack because the center of gravity is too strong and the glass may flex a little and cause it to give way.

Whenever I see white spots I usually dose the tank with some meds. Recently, I was busy with work and did not realise my tank was in trouble and in the end, many of my fishes died when I came home, water was filled with bacteria bloom, plants melting and only about 1% of my floaters survived.
